DAY 31 - BOOK

Last day of the challenge! I don't know if I did it right, but I tried to mix experience, passions, thoughts and find out some new things about other subjects, it all mized with some Italian, cause in the end, this is still an Italian blog. I might try again on my other blog. I wanna thank Panda (hope you're good, friendo) for joining me in this and bettering my idea.

Now, back to books: As I mentioned yesterday, I'm not reading anymore. I used to read so much in the past, like a very huge amount of books and it was nveer enough. I came to the conclusion that it's also some sort of trauma I subconsciouly relate with my grandma (from whom I took this passion). I connect her with books and probably the fact that I couldn't properly say goodbye or do what I wanted, is still haunting me this way. I took shelter into movies and other means, while looking at all my books lying in my room. I should try reading again though, as Panda suggested me there are Animes and other smaller things that can be enjoyed before going on with books (you know, I also have this problem that I need to end a chapter once I start reading. I cannot leave chapters halfway, so I really cannot even say "okay I'll read one page today": the mere idea gives me anxiety). I do think the time to read again will come one day. right now I probably have to focus on something else. And anyway, it's not that those who don't read have anything wrong. It's all good. Reading is a choice, a way to spend time and enjoy a nice story. But there are other ways like audiobooks and movies, to do the same, maybe while doodling or doing something else. (Am I subconsciously scared of wasting time while reading? Even if that's not the case? Yeah, probably it could be that too... whatever, the reason is not always important. Facts and "solutions", whenever we need to find one, are the most important things).

DAY 30 - FILM/MOVIE

I have become such a sucker for movies and films... I am leaving so many books behind! I really cannot read anymore (but spoiler: I'll tell you about this tomorrow).

I've grown up being a lot into photography: my father used to shoot a lot and I took up this habit of stopping moments with my camera (one of his friends gifts me a little one when I was a toddler, not even going to school probably). From photography, and talking with a friend who has the same passion, I moved on movies: the photography used there, the composition of the images, speak so loud in a movie, much more than the dialogue itself. It all gave me a new perspective on movies' meanings, and directors' povs. Not to mention about the coloring (already did, lol). But anyway... I want to leave you this link to a youtube's channel called Slim Dogs that is all based on movies and directors, and how specific scenes were created and other funny and also interesting stuff realted to this world. These guys are from Rome, you can hear the accent but also some slang words; they're so good at what they do that is impossible to not follow them: they release a video each friday (last friday's one was all about how some scene of the recent The Batman were made + spoiler with the final scene). Slim Dogs Production has been created by Cane Secco (I already mentioned both in my Italian youtube's suggestions), they do photography and videos (but also small movies) for the most different target: mvs, tv advertisments, public events and so on...

DAY 29 - STARS

I have just noticed I'm not posting songs anymore LOL that's how I am. I forget stuff. But also Ihave days in which my mind is filled with songs and others in which I have nothing but a quiet noise in the back of my head. Eh. I'm saying this because I had a line from La notte stellata's song by Jovanotti in my mind.

Anyway. Stars. I've always tried to see shooting stars, I probably only saw a couple from my balcony. I am lucky to live in an area which is not so affected by city lights', and therefore I still can see something without having to leave the town. Ofc, it'd be better to do that. Stars fascinate me, but I have become even more fascinated by the aurora borealis (probably thanks to my brother who is so deep into them).

But the title is stars, and so here's two lines about them (I took inspiration from Wikipedia): - Le stelle sono corpi celesti che brillano di luce propria. Stars are celestial bodies that shine with their own light. - La stella più vicina alla Terra è il Sole. Le altre stelle, ad eccezione delle supernove, sono visibili solo di notte. The star that is the closest to Earth is the Sun. The other stars, exception made for supernovae, can be seen only at night. - La Via Lattea, la nostra galassia, contiene oltre 100 miliardi di stelle di vario tipo. The Milky Way, our galaxy, contains more than 100 billions of stars of different types. - Le stelle sono divise in classi in base alla regola per cui quanto più è debole la luminosità percepita, tanto maggiore è il numero che ne esprime la grandezza. Stars are divided into classes following the rule that says the weaker the brightness we perceive, the bigger the number about its size.

DAY 28 - ITALIAN

Eccoci! Here we are!

While deciding subjects for the challenge I decided to put in some Italian as well, knowing that Panda has learned it too. I don't really know what to focus on, cause I have already been talking a lot about Italy and Italian on this blog and much more is to come... so okay, I'm going to just write a random text/diary entry + translation. Imagine I'm writing at night ofc.

[I'd love to see your italian diary entries too btw. Remember if you have no idea of what to write, you can use your imagination. Imagine something, a perfect day, and write about it and your feelings. Or maybe write about a dream you had! Nobody will know if it's real or not if you want others to read it, you don't have to impress no one but just spend your time practicing and doing something nice and relaxing. This said, tag me in your post if you want me to help you/correct you, or send your text through the asks on Anon, it's fine too. Just practice and don't be scared to make mistakes: the more mistakes you make the more new things you'll learn.]

(Caro diario), Oggi mi sono svegliata, mi sono alzata, mi sono lavata, ho fatto colazione e ho guardato la posta. Ho letto due articoli di giornale e studiato un po' di russo e coreano. Ho pranzato e poi sono andata in palestra. Quando sono tornata a casa, ho fatto una doccia e poi ho preparato dei post per il mio blog. Ho disegnato dei visi per la sfida che sto facendo e colorato coi pennarelli alcuni disegni che posterò a breve su Instagram. Fa davvero caldo, per fortuna ho sempre una bottiglietta di acqua vicino a me!

(Dear diary), Today I woke up, I got up, washed myself, had breakfast and looked at the emails. I read two newspaper's articles and studied a bit of Russian and Korean. I had lunch and thenI went to the gym. After I went back home, I took a shower and then I worked on some posts for my blog. I drew some faces for the challenge I'm doing and colored with markers some drawings that I will soon post on Instagram. It's very hot, luckily I always have a small bottle of water nearby!

DAY 27 - MAGIC

What is magic? I think, if we look closely, magic is all around us. everything can be magic, if we believe it is. How a flower blossoms, a plant can sprout again each spring after having been dead all winter... the way a bunch of ingredients make for your favorite food, whatever that is. Even coloring something can make it look more magical. You can literally put magic anywhere you want to. And it'd fit well. How can you learn and remember something? Or to prepare/do something you didn't feel like? It could be you ofc, but also magic sometimes: especially when it takes you less time than you thought it would. Like when you find all the traffic lights on your road turning green "for you"? Magic.

I want to leave you these small bit s of "La spada nella roccia" (The sword in the stone), in Italian ofc. Cause, who's a better magician than Mago Merlino? Not Maga Magò (Madam Mim), sorry.

(My favorite bit is always the one with squirrels and the "love" chat at the end)

DAY 26 - IMAGINATION

Isn't so good to imagine stuff? Stories, worlds, things... sure it doesn't have to become unhealthy like, we keep staying in our imagination because it's (ofc) better than our reality. But once in a while, isn't it good to get a glimpse of something different? Of how things could be? Or maybe how they are in a different dimension (if you believe so) or maybe will be soon? A strong imagination can help us foresee our future and maybe set goals on which we can work everyday. Ofc, it should be something that we can actually do, but... why giving us limits? Pointing to the moon, you cans till end up among the stars, right? So keep imagining stuff! It can even be a good way to refresh our minds and hearts, seeing how this world can be overwhelming sometimes: taking a pause in a calmer place can be of help. Again, we need to know that we cannot stay there forever though, we have to come back, and maybe transform our actual life into one closer to what we're imagining.

DAY 25 - TRADITION

Okay I couldn't find a nice gif so I stook with this Befana (we celebrate this gal up here, on January 6th, the epiphany day). This is for example one of the many traditions we have in Italy, even if this one is probably more celebrated in central/southern Italy: in the northern area, we focus more on Christmas day itself. Leaving aside all the many the Christmas' traditions and traditional foods that vary throughout the whole country (I promise this year I will make a video), traditions are part of our everyday life. The way we eat a generally sweet breakfast (even if now we are more open to a salty one too), have a fast lunch (in general, cause of work) and a calmer dinner. The way on sundays families gather to eat lunch altogether (generally to our granmas' joy, cause she can fill us for t he whole week ahead and even gift us with the "avanzi" = the left-overs, cause you cannot really leave them there and you can warm them a little and eat them the next day). Some of us still follow the "friday - fish" = venerdì (we eat) pesce. But not everyone is for "thursday - gnocchi" = giovedì (we eat) gnocchi. TBH pasta is a food we can even eat twice a day, and it doesn't affect us: I'm saying so cause my cousin's husband is Spanish and as soon as he came here and adapted to this habit (that he loves btw), he gained some weight. and I think this speaks loudly about how much traditions are National, and even local ofc, and once we are not used to it might take some effort to get accostumed. But once you do, it's soo cool!

Okay, traditions are infinite but I'll stop here for now. No vocabulary cause it's already all about Italy :)

DAY 24 - STUDY

We never really stop studying and learning, right? I do think that studying is important, a little knowledge helps you in your everyday life, but I understand when students say they don't like to study. It's not always easy to keep up with all the deadlines that school asks us, and it's stressing to keep your grades high or good enough. Sometimes school needs to remember that we're humans and more often than not, we have to learn things that probably won't be so useful in our daily life and, especially, that we don't even like. Most of the times though, it's because we're taught about that subject in a bad way since our firts days of school. I think that teachers should do their best to help guys be interested in whatever they (have to) study. Cause to study for a passion and for your own pleasure, even outside school, it's very different: you feel a lot more motivated to keep up with your studying when it's about something you enjoy. Even if maybe, outside school, you can have problems if you don't set deadlines for yourself and don't really practice with someone knowing the subject, who can guide you through your learning. Still, it's something you can overcome now thanks to the internet.

I have been a student, I am still a student, and I have been tutoring some guys while they were in school (plus I've been on here for a few years now). I always try my best to make things easy to understand and funny, especially when I am talking. Studying forms our spirit too, not just our mind, and it doesn't have to be a duty in all its aspects. Studying should be the consequence of a curiosity, or of a need to fill in a lack. I hope everyone can get out of school safely and find something you enjoy to learn about cause in the end, studying is fun. Maybe a challenge like this can be of help! :)
