The Challenger I is a British MBT that was in service from 1983 to 2001 by the UK, it is no longer used by the British as the Challenger II was produced in 1993 and proved to be a better vehicle. The Challenger I is equipped with the Royal Ordnance L11A5 120 mm rifled gun, that could fire High Explosive Squash Head (HESH) and Armour Piercing Fin Stabilised Discarding Sabot (APFSDS) rounds, with the HESH having a much larger range than the APFSDS rounds. The armour values for the Challenger I are currently still classified.
