Star Wars Alien Species - Chagrian

The Chagrians hail from the Champala. The pleasant tropical climate of this planet is a popular destination for galactic tourists.

The amphibious Chagrians are comfortable both on land and in water. The coastal cities of their homeworld are constructed to allow the rising tides to flood the buildings. When this takes place, Chagrians swim from place to place, or use speeders, which are adapted for aquatic use.

Society on Champala is peaceful and highly structured, although Chagrian legal systems are complex and often daunting to outsiders. As a rule, Chagrians are law-abiding and obedient toward figures of authority. Chagrian government ensures that every citizen is cared for, and the standard of living for even the poorest Chagrian is quite high when compared to the impoverished members of other Species.

Although juvenile Chagrians possess a weak sense of taste, this sense fades as they mature into adults. The end result is that Chagrians rarely, if ever, enjoy consuming food and drink, and do so solely to fuel their bodies. Dining activities are traditionally viewed as a nuisance, and a waste of time, so most Chagrians choose to consume nutrient capsules in order to maintain bodily health and energy levels. When traveling, most Chagrians carry portable scanners that allow them to determine the relative nutrient value of the food they eat.

Although they are unable to taste the food they eat, Chagrians view dining as an opportunity to socialize with members of other Species that do not share their sensory deficiencies.

Chagrians have inherited an innate resistance to Radiation due to instability in Champala's primary star. Their blue skin is a direct result of this evolutionary step, and modern Chagrians continue to enjoy protection from myriad forms of Radiation as a side effect.

Chagrians possess thick skin that ranges in color from light blue to dark indigo. Horns, Lethorns stem from a pair of fleshy growths that protrude from the sides of their heads. Male Chagrians also develop a pair of sharp horns on the tops of their heads, and these are known to get quite long.

A typical Chagrian male stands at 1.9 meters or 6.2 feet tall and weighs 95 kilograms or 209.4 pounds, while a typical Chagrian female stands at 1.9 meters or 6.2 feet tall and weighs 85 kilograms or 187.4 pounds.

Chagrians age at the following stages:

1 - 12 Child

13 - 16 Young Adult

17 - 42 Adult

43 - 56 Middle Age

58 - 75 Old

Okay Worldbuilding ask: What do you imagine the underwater or seaside places (like Rishi) to be like?

Underwater worlds like Glee Anselm are generally… big. Like big planets, obviously covered in oceans, with maybe one big continent at MOST and otherwise just a bunch of small islands. Most of the native species was born and evolved underwater, and then started developing the necessary organs and limbs to be able to survive on land.

The main cities are located underwater, of course. Originally, on Glee Anselm, you could only see the top of the massive, tall buildings of Pieralos poking through the surface of the ocean. But now the city has expanded on the surface as well, and it’s an impressive sight for sure.

Glee Anselm is very sunny, the few islands away from Pieralos are covered in sand and palm trees, the water is always blue and warm, and most of the population on said islands are isolated from the main population, so they are mostly fishermen, pearl gatherers, divers, and sometimes smugglers and merchants who will engage in trade with nearby islands.

On the contrary, Champala, homeworld of the Chagrians, is entirely tropical on the surface, and has hardly expanded its capital city of Tidros above the water. Actually, the city itself is hardly accessible to aliens who cannot breathe underwater, or use devices that help them breathe underwater. Most buildings are devoid of any staircase or elevator, and Chagrian simply swim from floor to floor, and from building to building.The more modern and accessible cities of Champala are located on high plateaus, amidst tropical jungles and large rivers. Many rivers on Champala have sweet and potable water, while the entirety of Glee Anselm is covered in salty seawater, hardly potable for most alien species (unless you like drinking… salt, I guess?) (they’ve got water purifying and desalination stations all across Pieralos though, no worries)

As for Rishi, well… it’s a small planet, tropical climate, and there doesn’t seem to be any ocean-dwelling sentient species living there, only a bunch of land dwelling species like the native Rishii. The view on the horizon and the ocean can be nice but I would advise against swimming anywhere near the big pirate cities - they’ve polluted the waters with all sort of garbage and with dangerous sea creatures that they regularly dump right here, after all sorts of failed contracts and deals.
