Day 31: Chance 1- Breakfast Code
We have weekly meetings at work that are usually about an hour long. In case anyone from work actually reads these, I will not catalog the things I do in the meetings instead of listen, but... there are a good deal. Last week, when I was running out of ideas, Zane suggest I do a chance composition- roll a die and assign note values and durations to different numbers, and then use that. Well, I didn't have dice, but I did have a meeting where many people ate or drank breakfast. I copied down every time someone took a sip or bite in order, then assigned each person a note and duration based loosely on their personality. I recorded 112 events, and used the first 56 as notes and the second 56 as durations. After that, I added a second piano as accompaniment and some reverb to make it more of a song. To hear the original solo melody, check out my Soundcloud:

Would Anyone Be Into Covering This On A Real Piano???

P.S.- This was fun, so I might try to start another in tomorrow's meeting! What should I use as events this time?
