My Ultimate Guide “de Chancheo”
In one of the 366 project photos I mentioned the word “chancheo” which is a word we use often here in Chile, my definitions to it: “when we eat an unnecessary amount of unhealthy food and it doesn’t matter.”... That time when you let yourself go and have and extra slice of pizza, when you secretly buy nuttella and eat it all by yourself... That intimate moment when nothing else matters except you and your junk food, TRUE LOVE.
I enjoy this very much, specially when I’m home alone and there’s nobody there to judge me!
With the help of Youtube, Pinterest and my own experience I’ve come up with a list of really delicious guilty plesures that you can prepare at home:
A Sandwich
Lets start simple, a sandwich is sometimes the obvious choice when you’re hungry and at times you can prepare a healthy and tasty number, but we’re not looking for healthy choices, make it nasty and put a lot of the good stuff between those slices of bread... can be sweet, or salty. I highly recommend to put a fried egg somewhere in there and feel the joy.
Pizza
You can always order pizza, but if you are low on funds just take a slice of bread and put the ingredients you want and have and the oven or microwave will do their magic. Call it “pizzandwich” I once called it in spanish “panpizza”... Call it however you want. ;)
I recently came upon a recipe of a pizza in a mug... sounded great, but I haven’t been able to try it yet. Here’s the Link, you should totally check more of this lady’s videos, she’s got great ideas to fulfill your chancheo dreams.
Scrambled eggs
When it’s pouring outside just throw a couple of eggs on a pan, toast some bread, get yourself some coffee and enjoy a movie. “Una pailita de huevo”, like we call it here, never disappoints!
Pancakes
The word says it all! My simple recipe it’s a ratio of milk, flour and eggs of 1:1:1 and that’s it! With one of each it’s more thant enough for a full tummy (you’ll get around 5 pancakes)... if you wanna go for a chancheo party you can always follow the ratio to make more.
Mug Cakes
This trend is the real deal, I’ve been enlightened! Just a couple of minutes in the microwave and OMG... mind blowing, a revelation!! I’ve tried a couple of times that have resulted in delicious awesomeness:
1. Blueberry Muffin
4 Tbsp of Flour
2 Tbsp of Sugar
1/8 Tsp of Baking Powder
1/16 Tsp of Baking Soda
3 Tbsp of Milk
2 Tbsp of Oil
BLUBERRIES!
This don’t make a big muffin, but if you really want it, just double it up! You don’t need a really big mug, but make sure the mixture doesn’t cover it completely, about 3/4 of it it’s ok, also I would say it’s best to not leave blueberries on top of it, because they will pop... it leaves a really nice jam kind of souce inside. n.n Put it in the microwave for a minute or two, depending on the microwave it may need an extra minute
2. Brownie
1/4 cup of Flour
1/4 cup of Sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp of Cocoa Powder
3 Tbsp of Water
2 Tbsp of Oil
This one is my favourite!!! it’s so bloody great, you’ll want it all the time... You only have to mix it all very well and put it in the microwave, I leave it there for 2 minutes I check how is going and leave it another minute and it’s usually ok, then to make it even better I throw a bit of powdered sugar... last time I made one, I spiced it up with some blueberries.
ENJOY! Chachear rocks.
