@amlansarkr is a queer songwriter from Guwahati, Assam who has been engaging with music from an early age. Born in an avarna Bengali-speaking family, he is trained in Hindustani Classical Music, and has also dabbled in ghazals, qalaams, film music, and songs written by cultural icons like Tagore, Bhupen Hazarika, and Bishnu Rabha. His first song “Chaandni Raat", that has been out on YouTube for over a year as a one-take home-video at the height of a lockdown-infused boredom and inactivity, is now finally out on all major streaming platforms via independent record label, @notveryobviousnotrecords "Chaandni Raat” can be called a potpourri of everything Amlan has ever loved—love, language, and music.
