We had this pop up in cube -- if I cast 'Stunt Double' copying Sarkhan the Dragonspeaker (after his plus one ability activates) -- he's also an indestructible hasty dragon, I blocked, no loyalty lost. But does my creature Sarkhan become a planeswalker at the end or does he stay a creature? I feel like he becomes a planeswalker but my friends argued otherwise.
When Stunt Double enters the battlefield as a copy of Sarkhan, it will copy Sarkhan as he’s printed, i.e. as a non-creature planeswalker. It’s not a creature, but just an exactly copy of Sarkhan as printed.
Copy effects always copy permanents as printed, with only other copy effects and statuses like being face-down having an effect on how the copy looks. Effects like Sarkhan’s animation ability aren’t taken into consideration.
