Groundbreakers Play: How to Eat an Oreo
In How to Eat an Oreo, three teens try to escape an obesity camp and gay-to-straight conversion center, while struggling with their unhealthy fixations more than likely induced by their provincial but societally normal parents. As the realization of being caught by the camp counselors draws near, they each must come to terms with what they've been forced to deny about themselves.
What was the first memorable theatre production you saw or were involved with and why does it stick with you? This is pretty recent actually. I stage managed/mom’d an undergraduate production of The Colored Museum by George C. Wolfe this past spring (2014). It was a mostly all female production, and the actors, directors, and tech crew literally blew me away. I got chills during every performance, and that’s saying a lot, as there were plenty moments where I felt as if the show truly was not going to come to fruition; not for the lack of talent, but for the lack of time and resources. Not only did everyone instrumental in the project surprise the shit out of me, but they shocked the School of Theater (SOT) into submission. Hopefully, that’ll teach them (SOT) not to continue to underestimate their student body by relying on a small few to represent the department. Any Current pop-culture obsession or interest? I’m always obsessed with Boondocks, like that will never waver. But to choose something more current: Amos Lee. I should probably be president of his cult fan club.
