Ryder. Everyone in Goldwater knows the name to some extent whilst not as infamous as the founders it’s a name that people tend to speak with a certain sense of fond reverence. A name people in town associate with the notion of genuine goodness, not an easy thing to find in today’s world.
Andrew Ryder grew up a stereotypical rich kid. Every summer his family would take a fancy vacation to somewhere like the Bahamas or Thailand, and when Andrew got high marks, his parents rewarded him with an expensive gift. He was set to inherit everything and for a time he did, Ryder Inc. the largest and most well-represented law-firms in London. But life spent focusing only on making money and rubbing shoulders with the top brass soon grew to be tedious for the young heir and it just so happened that on his coffee break he happened to meet an American barista working part-time to support her medical career. The pair became friends, with Andrew offering Michelle opportunities and opening the necessary doors she needed to get ahead in her career until her name was spoken amongst some of the top social circles.
They were living the high life, and it was no surprise to anyone when they started dating. Although it wasn’t the match his family wanted, they were happy for him nonetheless. After eight years working as an unstoppable team they finally decided that as much as they loved the city it would be nice to escape to somewhere quieter. Allowing his younger brother William to take control, Andrew moved a portion of the company to America where he and Michelle moved -- eventually settling back in Goldwater many years later.
When they had Jonathan, Andrew knew he didn’t wish his son to have the same upbringing he did with only the nanny for company and his parents never around. No, in comparison to his parents upbringings Jonathan’s beginning was rather humble; born in Goldwater the town was all he knew and all he needed until he finally decided to leave to explore the world when he turned twenty-eight. He was raised with the belief that you should always treat others as you wish to be treated yourself and it’s a mantra that he does his best to live to up to this very day. As a child Jonathan was encouraged by his parents to go out of his way to make friends and be kind to everyone and that’s exactly what he did. Older residents and even those around his own age all have heard the Ryder name in some shape of form because they were and still are true members of the community in Goldwater.
Now, Michelle and Andrew live on the edge of town and Jonathan lives a little distance away from the family residence -- it was with the combination of his hard work and parent’s help that he was able to purchase the property he did and the three are a very close-knit unit to this day.
