Changing Your Carpets – What You Should Know!
Whether your carpet has been on the receiving end of a nasty spill or it’s simply time for a new look, don’t make any expensive decisions without reading our guide to buying new carpets:
Think about the use of the room. Light colours won’t stand up well against children’s activities and pets’ paws, whilst through-rooms and corridors will need practicality over prettiness.
In addition to the style, think about the carpet fibres. Common options are nylon, polyester, wool and synthetic fibres, each with their own plus and minus points. Have a chat to Select Flooring staff to see which is best for your property.
Don’t skimp on the underlay. It may seem like a tempting chance to cut costs, but a good-quality underlay will enhance durability and increase the life of your carpet.
Think about your options. For example, a stair runner might look nice over painted floorboards or a mish-mash of rugs might create an individual look to a room.
If you need to change a carpet due to a pet having an accident, you might need to take steps other than just a straightforward replacement. Wash the walls in the relevant area and spray all round with an enzyme cleaner before laying the new carpet.
