Our guilt is an unconscious desire to change our past. It is a desire that can never be fulfilled, for it wishes that the past was different. Since the only goal guilt has to change the past, it makes us forget the primary objective which is to change the behaviors that caused this guilt. Changing behavior requires commitment, understanding and clarity, but above all it requires recognizing things which are in and outside of our control. It demands surrender. It is only in the state of surrender that our mind has given up its desire to change the past, and therefore becomes able to change its present. This is why it can now let go and forgive itself for what happened. It heals from its guilt and begins to live in the present. — @findingawareness #findingawareness #guilt #thePast #changingBehaviors #commitment #understanding #clarity #surrender #lettingGo #forgiving #thepresent #zenwords #repost https://www.instagram.com/p/CMCtix_H-p3/?igshid=8yk84jayu84i
