Susah Sinyal ★★★★★, 90% Wow I spent the whole movie laughing my ass out or wiping my tears! Another great creation by Ernest Prakasa. It was surprising, to be honest. I went in without knowing what the movie is about. So it's pretty amazing. A movie about mom and daughter. Oh I long for this kind of movie. And I am so proud that Indonesia can actually make it greatly. The story is about Ellen a hardworking lawyer/single mom. Raising her teenage daughter Kiara alone is a struggle for herself especially when Grandma died. Ellen and Kiara don't have a warm relationship as mother and daughter. There's this hole between them. You can see how they long for each other, how desperately they want to connect but don't know how. Ellen struggles to keep it balance between work and Kiara. Ellen doesn't understand her daughter but she wants to get to know her yet she loves her job and can't keep away from it. And Kiara is a teen so you know how she acts. So Ellen take them both to Sumba for a holiday. And I know you can guess the rest of the story. That's why I am so freaking surprised at the climax. Ellen said something to Kiara that I did not expect at all. That was the best narrative from the movie. It shows the dephts of Ellen's fear and the bottom of it which is pretty depressing. But totally relatable. I love how Ernest does that. We fall in love with the characters yet he still find a way to make us love them even more. So go on waste your money on this one: its freaking funny, idiotic even, touching, relatable, and so warm. My heart is full of beautiful dandelions. Its a great family movie. Homeland Season 5 ★★☆☆☆, 40% Homeland Season 6 ★★★★☆, 95% So I've been watching these two seasons back to back for the past few weeks. Season 5 is a mess, I don't get it. I don't understand where they're going with it. Yeah Carrie is faced with new situations but not a lot changed. Rupert Friend as Peter Quinn is the solo fighter holding it all together but with a weak storyline, season 5 just can't pull it off. Add to that,Saul and Carrie are fighting like kids. Cmon guys. Now season 6. That's crazy. I'm pulled right from episode 1. This is something new, they're going into politics and dude I love America's politics. Season 6 is packed with actions and tenses. You can see how deep they're going. Both emotionally and narrative-ly Again, Rupert Friend is a joy to watch. Peter Quinn is "gone" , and I think this season is about how Carrie should let go of him. Quinn is dead dude. Thats fucked up. But I do understand it. Because right from the start, he was gone already. Only Carrie can't let him go bcause of her guilt. Quinn told her a few times to let him go. And she finally can accept that. I love how they ain't gotten together till the very end. So realistic. Their relationship is eating us alive. Its aching yet warming. Saul is boring tho, ew. Hate him, he actually didn't do anything besides run and hide. I was never the one feeling his character. Not exactly rooting for him. Justice League ★★★★☆ 80% I always love a movie about weirdos in weird customes. Lol. I love this one better than BvS, because this one got a lighter tone. It's more fun, and you can feel the dynamic between these weirdos. And I think Flash stole everybody's heart, he's the one. I was actually surprised to see the conflict: it's coming from Diana and Bruce. Watching Diana having a hard time leading is news to me. I always see her as someone who is fearless, but the truth is she's afraid to make mistakes. So human, ain't she? Relatable. And then Bruce's guilt. They're pretty simple conflicts but I think it worked. Enough to make people feel who they actually are. Honestly there aren't many characters' developments. It's more like introductions rather than developments. Well I can accept that because there are major new characters that we need to know in just 120minutes. What I love about this one is that they're not trying too hard to produce a story about powerful team that has a hard time being together. A team that unite because of one leader saying cool words. If you look closely, JL isn't about people that wanted to achieve the same goal. They fight because of who they are rather than the purpose of the team itself. That's what makes them unique. They're together not because of a charming leader nor a noble purpose: but its because of fear, guilt, and excitement. These things lead to justice, to the will to protect, trust in each other. Flatliners (2017 Remake) ★★☆☆☆, 40% Oh this one is bad broh hahaha. Technically speaking it's so freaking bad. But I do enjoy it (almost) to the very end. I hate the ending. What a weak closure. I miss Ellen Page as she was in Juno. She was one of the best, she still is. And she is great in here, but the narratives aren't supporting her (or other cast). Weak development, I can't actually "see" the characters for who they are inside out. There ain't any great deal of connections between the characters, except for sex. It sucks. It is said that the movie is sci-fi but dude the sci-fi element is too low, doesn't give many believeable theories. All they did was putting it there. No developments or any strong background. What I love is the thrill, and shit I thought this is not a ghost movie but turns out it is a lit bit ghost-sy. It's shocking enough to entertain, scary enough to make us nervous. And I love how they potray humans as freaking egoistists and self-centered shits. Everybody has guilt and regret over things they've done. And some people just cant forgive themselves. I love-hate how they show that humans need to almost die first to be able (or want) to atone their sins. That is so human. Disgusting, but its human nature. So yeah you can watch it but dont expect much. There arent many explanations about things that happened in the movie. But its still fun and entertaining, funny even at a few moments. Shocking but not that scary. The characters arent likeable but can be relatable. I only watch it because of Ellen Page. Lyrebird by Cecelia Ahern ★★★☆☆ I don't love the whole book and I also don't hate it. There is a strong yes and no I feel with this book. I love how Ahern wrote, always been her fan, but Lyrebird feels a bit different than usual. Yes it's still beautiful, but I don't feel the harmony that Ahern used on her late books. That beautiful sorrow she brings, I don't actually know how to put it but it lost something. The first half is interesting, the story of a human whom keep mimicking everything around her is definitely will get you hooked right away (or throw the book away, tbh). I belong to the first row, in my mind I know it's ridiculous but my heart relates. Laura is a weirdo, an alien, and that must be so interesting to explore. I love the dynamics between Bo, Solomon and Laura. They have this strong pull towards each other, and they're getting eaten by it whether they want it or not. It's a weird connection: both love and hate, respect and irritation, admiration and jealousy. They meet each other and the forces are just too hard for them to bear. It shows them who they really are and it's hard for them to accept the truth. I truly am rooting for Bo, I love her. A workaholic with heart. I wish that Ahern would made her character even more stronger (probably meaner), but well I love Bo, so yeah I'm satisfied enough. She earns what she deserves. I just hate the fact that Sol blames it all on her. Eugh grow up, Sol. Yes I hate Solomon, he's so annoying. Blaming everyone and everything around him just because he can't accept that part of it is his own fault. He blames because he felt guilty. That's so human but it's annoying dude really. And Laura...hm even tho she's the main character I don't think she's that good written. I'm sorry to fans but I feel that way. She's a strange girl going to this new whole world she doesn't know. What's so new about that? She's too fragile and weak for me. I want a stronger heroine. Bo should be the main here oh damn. Laura is so special it makes her boring. Thor: Ragnarok ★★★★★, 90% Do I really need to say it? Its Marvel, of course its awesome! What I love about any Thor movies is how its really a superhero classics with a great sense of humour. For me Capt is a little bit stiff, Iron Man is somehow too smart. And Thor is just perfectly even. It has a solid story but with a joyous adventure. And it never stops to surprise us. Cate Blanchett is such a beauty to watch. I love her, she always brings 200% and she is a great addition to the cast. The funny thing is that Hela brings more resemblances with Loki rather than Thor. Hela is a very nice touch and I hope we will get to see more of her. Because I think she's a very interesting character to explore. She's corrupt from the very beginning and its because of her father Odin. That's the only thing I complain about: how Hela didn't get explored thoroughly. Talking about our prince Thor, its sad that we dont get to see him with Natalie Portman anymore. But this movie is about him as a king. The king inside him needs to be awaken. I'm sad to see that his relationship with Loki isn't much explored except for that scene on the elevator. That was nice and deep even tho they didnt put weight on it. Anyway Chris is a joy to watch, love him. And I love his costume at the collouseum: its a classic comic book Thor! Hulk and Valkryie bring a new dynamic to the movie. She's not Lady Sif that is a strong barrier of justice, she's more complicated and broken. And she kicks ass dude, I just love seeing strong ass women on movies! Girl power y'all! Hulk and Banner, oh dear I can't stop laughing everytime they're on the scene. Finally we got some real fun! The movie is a nice-packed: it got some emotional moments (Odin), a lot of funny jokes, exciting actions, and some really cool music. Kingsman: The Golden Circle ★★☆☆☆, 40% Okay hear me first before you throw those cans at me. I LOVE the movie, I laughed out loud, and definitely stunned by the actions. But still I gotta be honest with my opinion. I think this is not a great sequel to it's GIANT predecessor. I don't get what they're trying to do. There are no stories. Lack of focus, too many confusing and unneccessary sub-plots. And bringing Hary back is the worst idea ever (imo). The sequel should be about how Eggsy living his life without Hary, trying to be a better man. When Hary died, it was a major step for Eggsy's character development: he gotta survive once more without a dad, but he was actually knew how to be a man at that time. And now Hary is back, so it feels like a step back. For me, I would love to see Eggsy struggling w/out Hary, maybe he can confide to Merlin about his problems, etc. Merlin should be a nice standground for Eggsy. Wtf did they do to Roxy and Merlin btw. The enemy is...lacking of creativity and innovation from the first movie. Its basicaly the same, only that this time its a female and dealing w/ drugs. I love a female enemy,I love Julianne Moore, but that was just...nope. Oh yeah, its freaking too long. Again, too many subplots. Altho, the Statesman is briliant. The idea that there are cousins out there set up a solid promise for the next sequel of the franchise. There could be more interesting organizations. And the BIG CAST! WOW first here comes Channing Tatum, and then Pedro Pascal, and then Halle Berry, and Elton freking John. LMAO I'm still tryin to figure out what Elton John's purpose was LMAO. Beside lacking of story and depth(seriously I can't relate to anything) than the first one, they're still made it in terms of action and screenplay. Those choreos are still awesome, the 360° angle is even more exciting. The actions won't let you down. Its fun, its gore, its fantastic, and really felt like Kingsman. It has its own spark. So yes I recommend it for you! Go waste your money because its funny and stupid and cool! But dont expect the greatness from the first movie. American Assasin ★★☆☆☆, 30% Definitely made me sleepy. Hmm its slow at the beginning and then rush toward everything when it hit the last 20 minutes. It lacks of big action, the big sparks only appear near the end of the movie. The last minutes are pretty entertaining as an action movie tho. Hmm I'm convinced by O'Brien's potrayal of Rapp/Mitch/whatever, he's good. No he was actually great, his emotions are believable. He's growing within our eyes, getting more mature. But it is so hard to separate him from his character in Maze Runner. Everytime I saw him ran, I just kept coming back to the series. But O'Brien absolutely has earned his place in the industry. He will survive even after Maze Runner comes to an end. I can't say much about the movie. I don't get the premise, I don't get the story. Everything feels like a mix and match whereas they are just not a good fit. Characterizations ain't that amazing either, everything is pretty typical. It survives because of the big names. Narratives? So-so. It's a plain action movie without much action, only enough to keep your pants going. I'm 100% sure that the book is way more amazing. Because the movie has given me this weird feelings where they actually want and can do more. A lot of things missing from it. Hmm I wouldn't reccomend it highly to you guys. If you're a fan of O'Brien then you should watch this. He's growing and its a cool thing to watch.
