Teens of Avonlea
Thoughts and wishlist for season 3
I have high hopes for the character arcs of the teens of Avonlea in s3 just cause Moira has set the bar really high, what with her character development and all. So here's my take-
Diana Barry- She's had ample screen time and is quite high up the ladder but she tends to be indecisive and clueless in certain situations. S2 dealt with it flawlessly. Moving forward, I would like to see her thinking for herself and not what she's been told. Like finally realising her knack for music into a probable career. Also, pursuing Jerry on her own would be a great twist for her (meek?) personality against all odds. Overall, I can't wait to see her beginning to grow into a strong young woman.
Jerry Baynard- He's the little brother that Anne didn't know she needed. His brotherly affection for Anne is quite evident and his growth in s2 as someone who tries to push back to circumstances - his learning curve- is laudable. I can't wait to meet his family this season, his friendship(?) with Diana has so much potential, fingers crossed! I am so excited for his reaction to #shirbert and Anne's reaction to #derry lmao.
Jane Andrews- She's the last of the Andrews' siblings and one can imagine her being well-built because of her feminist mother and well, Billy as a brother- that alone has made her no nonsense lmao- She doesn't take shit from people and isn't afraid to speak in her right mind.(like when she says Anne has swollen lips lol.) So she can be set apart from the group this season as the one who calls bullshit on things.
Billy Andrews- Call him what you may, (my fav-the scum of the earth) he seems to be getting a redemption arc this season as hinted in s2 finale. But not without a good sack in the kisser- 3 for 3- Am I right?
Tilly Boulter- Now that Moira has spoiled us, I no longer am satisfied by those cheeky hilarious one liners Tilly gets to say. I mean what do we know about her other than she loves gossip and Oh my..? She has great potential once fleshed out- maybe someone who is cautious of adventure-the moral compass of the group- but later adapts to it in Anne's company.
Cole McKenzie- Well he's thriving with Aunt Jo rn. But it left a bad taste in my mouth that his family was left behind like that. Look I know that they were not looking Out for his dreams and future but they are still his family. Most importantly, he must be happy that he is, I just hope that they address the family issue atleast.
Josie Pye- She is the textbook mean girl, does mean things. S2 threw some light on why she's the way she is. It should take centre stage for her arc next season. Like not without a few bumps along the way, she's awful mean to Anne in the trailer. Wait did you know that Josie is m.e.a.n.? But, It would be nice to see her realising her wrongs and redeeming herself.
Ruby Gillis- I want for her to become more than that girl who has a crush on a boy, period. She's obviously younger and thus a little naïve than girls her age; so this season has to be her coming of age story. Her learning there's more to Gilbert Blythe than his sad and handsome looks- that he's boring and studious and not worth her time.
Charlie Sloane- lol He's the one I'm obsessed with rn. We don't really know anything about him, like he's going to be different than the books, but we don't know yet like an enigma. The boy who agreed with Gil that Anne was invested and good, seemed visibly distressed in spin the bottle, when they bullied Anne. So, maybe I'm far-reaching but look out for his friendship with Gil and it's ramifications on ChAnne or Sharlie or vice versa. (don't kill me, I do not ship them *breaths heavily*)
Moody Spurgeon- He's got this Neville-esque personality, so hilarious. He was an unexpected hit of season2 for all the right reasons - He certainly likes Diana so I don't know that will work out this season. He also wanted to become a Minister in the books and we'll have to see how that goes.
Crabbe and Goyle- I would be satisfied even if they only tell us their names. God, tell us their names. Is it too much to ask for?
