“Get on my back. I’ll take you home.”
Tears rolled down her cheeks without caring that she actually wanted to stop crying, at least until she could finally lock the door to her room.
But how would she go home? Should she just walk with only her white socks on? It wouldn’t be easy, knowing that she lived fourty minutes away from the school she went to.
Those bitches really deserve a few good punches in the face. She was really frustrated as to why they wouldn’t leave her alone. Giving a shit or two about someone you don’t like is totally a dumb action, let alone not leaving them alone. Those girls were just dumb in general, no one would ever understand.
It was the second year of high school where she should just enjoy the time without worrying about anything much. But of course those so-called seniors just had to make her life a living hell. It’s not like she did anything wrong on purpose, one of them was replaced by her as the vocalist in the school band, but it wasn’t her choice either. Instead of bothering her all the time, why wouldn’t they attack those who have chosen the poor girl as a vocalist?
They knew her weaknesses. They knew about her financial draught, seeing she only lived with her father because her mother died a few months back. They knew that she’s a trainee in a famous agency and they would do anything to get her kicked out of the company. They unbelivably made great plans on how to fuck with the girl’s life, despite their lack of academic intelligence.
She didn’t tell anyone either, pretending that nothing happened although everything hurt her like a million buller. If anything, she would be the one trying to hide the fact that she was bullied. She went to an all-girls school an rumors spread fast, but she thought that she was too powerless for even trying to defend herself once.
Just a few weeks ago, they threw eggs at her in the school field in front of everyone. She had to skip her evening trainee practice because of the damn smell, and went home instead trying to get rid of it. Then a few days ago, they broke her phone knowing that she had no money to get a new one.
And that day, that evening, there she was. She stood all alone in the parking lot, crying. Everyone went home because it’s already late. She decided that she wouldn’t come to the evening practice, knowing that she didn’t even have a clue on how to go home and it’s already late so she would get yelled at again.
The agency building was just twenty minutes away on foot, but did she have to walk with only her socks on and an ugly crying face? They tore it apart. They tore her shoes apart and threw them in the swimming pool. There’s no way she wear those ever again, she couldn’t even find the left shoe.
“Why are you still here, god dammit? I arrived and you weren’t there. Is it your new hobby to get your trainers yelling at you again?”
She lifted her head to see Chanyeol in front of her. He was already in his sweatshirt instead of his school uniform, eyes staring at her in concern.
If there’s one thing no one knows about her, it’s her precious boyfriend and fellow trainee, Park Chanyeol. He went to another school and he never knew anything that happened in her school. But for some reason, she wanted to keep it that way, although she knew he might be upset once he finds out that she’s keeping things from him.
“Come on, let’s go home and get you changed, then we’ll go there together,” Chanyeol grabbed her hand and tried to drag her with him, but she wouldn’t move.
His eyes furrowed and he noticed the tears on her cheeks, escaping together with the sound of her silent cries.
“Yah, what’s wrong with you?” he asked, then stood closer. His arm rested on her shoulder, eyes gazing every inch of her. “Where are your shoes?”
“They--” she hiccuped. “They t-tore it apart....”
She finally had enough of this. He caught her at the worst state possible, it wouldn’t be easy to lie in front of his face.
Chanyeol’s eyes furrowed even more. “Who are they?” he asked. “What did they do to you?”
But she couldn’t answer. She just cried, and Chanyeol also did nothing but pulled her into his embrace, letting her cry on his chest. A million questions were running through his head, but he couldn’t bring himself to blurt them out. Her cries weakened him.
It might be overreacting for her to cry over a pair of shoes. But she couldn’t hold herself no more. Her mother was fired from her job a few weeks before her death, then the woman got a new job and bought a pair of shoes for her daughter with her first salary, knowing that the girl outgrew her old ones. Having those bitches tore it apart is too fucking cruel.
He pulled away from the hug when she calmed down, but she still wouldn’t look at him in the eye. Tears were still running down her cheeks, but he thought she felt better after letting herself loose on his chest.
“Get on my back. I’ll take you home,” Chanyeol said before facing his back at her and lower himself.
She didn’t move. She couldn’t believe that this guy just offered her his back. He was usually the one whining about her house being too far from his. Having him like this is kinda strange.
Besides, a fourty minutes piggyback ride? Are you serious?
“Do you want to go home or not?” He asked louder impatiently. “Should I just leave you here alone?”
Without having any other thoughts, she obeyed and he carried her like it was nothing. She was slightly nervous that he would drop her after just a few minutes. But he didn’t, even ten minutes later, he was still strong carrying her without giving a shit about people’s rude stare.
“Do you want to go to practice?” he asked. “If you don’t want to, I’ll skip with you.”
She shook her head slowly. “You don’t have to,” she whispered.
“I want to,” he insisted. “I just want to make sure that you’re okay. Let’s get yelled at together tomorrow, just this once. I don’t want you to go through that again on your own.”
“You really don’t have--”
“You need to tell me what’s wrong, you know. Just stop keeping things to yourself. I don’t mind with you sharing your problems with me,” he cut her off, changing the topic so she wouldn’t argue. “Right now might not be the best time, but you can tell me who they are. I promise I won’t make it worse for you.”
She rested her cheeks on his shoulder. “Okay.”
They spent another ten minutes walking in silence, and she felt at peace. It somehow felt like her heart could finally rest when she’s with him. She was getting too comfortable on his back, almost falling asleep.
“I don’t get why wouldn’t you take the bus,” he whined.
Of course.
“Let’s get to my place first. My uncle once bought me a pair of really cool shoes but they were too small on me. I can’t even understand why he thought my feet would be that small,” he said. “But I really like the shoes so i bought myself a bigger size which looked exactly the same. I think the smaller ones will fit you.”
She frowned, feeling guilty.
“Now we have matching shoes,” he grinned at the thought of it, laughing to himself. “You don’t even have to buy a new one!’
“Yah,” she whispered, hitting his chest with no energy. “Why are you like this?”
All he did was shrug.
“Because I love you,” he then said. “Now shut up and just listen to what I told you. Next time, you tell me when something is wrong, understand?”
A/N: I’ll (hopefully) see you guys again :>
