He’s a Fast Learner (Literally)
Rebekah: (Looking at Kai while sharpening a dagger) You know, I’ve been thinking. I’m quite tired of being the only person in this house with a functioning brain and an impeccable sense of style. I could use a partner. Someone… magically gifted.
Kai: (Mouth full of pork rinds) Totally. You should get a dog. I heard border collies are like, super smart. Or a poodle if you want the style thing.
Rebekah: (Deep breath) No, Kai. I mean someone to… share things with. Someone who understands the burden of being a powerful, misunderstood soul stuck in a town full of idiots.
Kai: Oh! You’re talking about a support group. I think they hold those at the church on Tuesdays, but honestly, I’m barred from the premises. Something about “heresy” and “stealing the communion wine.”
Rebekah: (Leaning in close, voice dropping) I am talking about us, you intolerable siphon. I am suggesting that perhaps we spend our evenings doing something more… intimate… than watching you try to beat your high score on Pac-Man.
Kai: (Eyes light up) You want to play too? Rebekah, why didn't you just say so? I’ll go get the spare controller, but fair warning, I don’t share the power pellets.
Rebekah: (Stares at him for five seconds, drops the dagger, and walks out of the room) I’m going to go find a bridge to jump off.
Kai: (Calling after her) Is that a hint that you want to go bungee jumping? Because that’s a solid date idea!
Kai: …
Kai: Wait.
Kai: (The realization hits him, and he slowly stands up, tossing the bag of pork rinds aside)
Kai: Oh. Oh.
Kai: (With a frantic, chaotic grin) Well, why didn’t you just lead with that? Pac-Man is way less fun than whatever that was!
Kai: (Sprinting out of the room after her) REBEKAH! HOLD ON! I’VE NEVER BEEN A PARTNER BEFORE BUT I’M A VERY FAST LEARNER!
