Emrys Press Chapbook Prize $1,000

GUIDELINES:

Manuscripts should be 24 to 26 pages in length, submitted in PDF, RTF, or MSWord formats only.

The author’s name must not appear in the manuscript. Do NOT put your name on the entry. The title page should contain the title only. Author contact information is to be collected separately via Submittable.

Include a Contents page. Do not include your name, acknowledgments, author bio, or any other identifying information in the manuscript file. Manuscripts will be read anonymously.

Work must not have been previously published as part of a book or as a self-published chapbook. Individually published poems are acceptable.

All manuscripts should include a cover page (with only the title of the manuscript), table of contents, dedication if applicable, and ackknoweledgements for previous publications. These pages do not count towards a page count.

Book Contest

Cash Prize: $1,000

A prize of $1,000, publication by Longleaf Press, and 25 author copies is given annually for a poetry collection. The winner will also be invited to give a virtual reading in early 2024. Roger Weingarten will judge. Using only the online submission system, submit a manuscript of at least 50 pages with a $27 entry fee by December 15.

Poetry chapbook submissions guide. Season Three 

We are looking to set the schedule for back room poetry chapbooks season three. Season three will run from April 2024.

We are looking for poetry that will fit our DIY ethic, is a bit edgy, could be described as punk, alternative, guerrilla, underground, surreal, out-there, lo-fi, or perhaps just a bit different… If you have to ask, well maybe your work isn’t what we are looking for.

Poems on any theme in any style or form (we can’t always promise to typeset in every form sent, but we will try our very best). It should go without saying that we will not consider any poetry that is homophobic, transphobic, sexist, ableist, racist, etc.

The Helena Whitehill Book Award

The Helena Whitehill Book Award supersedes the former Sunken Garden Chapbook Award

The Helena Whitehill Book Award includes a cash award of $1,000 in addition to publication by Tupelo Press, a book launch, national and international distribution by the University of Chicago Press, a one-week residence at Gentle House on the Olympic Peninsula, and unlike our other prizes, open to submissions of poetry, chapbook or full length, no page limit, and also open to creative non-fiction, no page limit.
