Today's Walking Photos: Today I ended up downtown and finished the work stuff I was doing just as people were starting to gather for the demonstration outside the Justice Center on 3rd Avenue. So I headed that way and captured these images.
The Justice Center itself, the focal point of 10 days of protesting so far. At the bottom of the image you can see some of the temporary fencing that surrounds the building. You can also see the inscription, “The due administration of justice is the firmest pillar of good government.” Courtesy of George Washington.
Chapman Square, a park opposite the Justice Center, just starting to fill up with people.
“The Promised Land,” a sculpture in Lownsdale Square (next to Chapman Square), has been repurposed and redecorated somewhat.
Yamhill Street at 4th Avenue, and along the left edge of the photo you can see the boarded-up windows of the Apple Store, which saw some heavy looting a couple weekends ago.
A pretty gorgeous painting someone added to a boarded-up window along Salmon Street. Anger leads to passion indeed.
Scenes from a protest, sort of.
