Chappell Customs SR500 Cafe Racer build
The name Chappell Customs should ring a bell, but if it doesn’t, you should pay attention to the summary: Chappell brothers have produced an impressive string of bikes over the years, regardless of the distance between them; Chris operates as Chappell Customs out of Los Angeles, while Rob handles its business in Ontario, Canada, under the alias Origin8or.
Based on a 1981 Honda CB900F, this is Rob’s latest project , and it’s looking mighty fine. The engine it’s powered by has been bumped up to 985cc, with various other upgrades also included to make us drool endlessly. It’s been three years in the making, but the CB was finally finished. surely, this bike would stand out of a crowd – no matter where you are or where you live.
Let’s make things interesting, and allow you to figure out on your own what’s different about this Honda. Did anyone notice the modified fuel tank, custom Kawasaki KZ1000 tailpiece, or unique seat courtesy of Tuffside? Let’s not forget about the crafted subframe, with a triangulated single shock mount and 2008 Yamaha R6 swingarm and shock. The front-end was sourced off of a 2008 Suzuki GSX-R750 front-end, while the custom Honda is now rolling on new Carrozzeria V-Track forged wheels. Any thoughts?
Before you make up your mind, please remember that bigger 985cc engine, complemented by a set of Keihin CR31 carbs and K&N filters, as well as a new oil cooler, and a four-into-two exhaust from Cycle-X. There’s also an LED taillight with integrated turn signals, and a license plate bracket with illumination. All of that seems to be overshadowed by black pearl, metallic silver, lemon sting, liquid copper and metallic red mix that created that incredible paint-job.

Chappell Customs
Chappell Customs is owned by two brothers, Chris who resides in L.A and Rob in Ontario. Both brothers share the motorcycle building and fabricating passion and have been around motorcycle since the early age of 5.
I met with Chris who was kind enough to show me around the L.A shop while describing his work.
Chappell Customs ambition isn't to reinvent the wheel on every build but "to create an unique ride-able bike with custom flair and extreme attention to detail".
Motorcycle building is not a full time job for Chris, nor for its brother Rob; they both have day jobs - Film and TV Visual FX for Chris and Design and Advertising for Rob, but have always been inhabited by their passion for building motorcycles, cafe-racer style.
They do work together whenever they can, but as of now, you can check out Chris' work!
Stay tuned!
