* as you step into the Festival's beginning, you notice Jevil has already stolen a candy apple from a nearby stand.

You are filled with the power of thieving jesters.

wow a new post so soon (Relative to me) and secret buddies related too? wowza anyways I wanted to expand on the actual dark world the three would be going through, Festival was locked in from the start, both the secret bosses have a sort of ride motif to there fights (Jevil a Carrousel and Spamton a roller coaster) so that was always locked in but I never liked the colour pallet I picked so I went for a twist on the "Field of pink and gold" line and decided to design the festival colour pallet around shades of pink and yellow, I know it's way more likely perceived by the community that the field is likely referring to flower flower king given the other hints in chapter 4 but I'm not really making this in hopes that I'm accurate so I'm fine with bending things things to make the funny carnival have the friend pallet.

“You’ve got blood on the corner of your mouth,” Ouma said, tapping his own mouth to demonstrate.

“What?” Alarmed, Momota wiped at his mouth, then glared when he realized it was clean after all. “Goddammit.”

“You can’t hide anything from me!” Ouma giggled. “So there’s no point lying. Are you going to die?”

“No, I’m not gonna fucking die.” He crossed his arms. “It’s just… annoying, that’s all. It’ll go away soon. Why do you even care — no, that was a lie too, right?”

He grinned. “Bingo! But you’re lying too. I can tell.” He smiled wider. “I guess we’re star-crossed liars!”

“You don’t have to be a hero to save the world…”

He hummed.

Kokichi’s grip was already beginning to weaken, eyelids only partially open as he regarded his killer.

“It doesn’t make you a narcissist to love yourself…”

The lithe victim of more than a murder closed his eyes, giving Kaito’s hand a weak squeeze to let him know that he shouldn’t feel guilty for what he was about to do.

He grabs Momota’s wrist. It’s like touching ice.

He doesn’t feel a pulse.

All the oxygen disappears, and it’s like he can’t breathe. Kokichi lets go as if burned and tries to push the body as far away from him as possible. His heart is hammering in his head, and he can’t get far enough away from the corpse.

Kokichi will have to stay in this exisal for hours. No, it could be days if the others don’t enter the hangar. Days with the corpse of yet another student.

Kokichi can’t even scream, can’t look away or run away or escape this cruel reality and oh god he’s touching it. He’s touching the bloody corpse of Kaito Momota.

Like he does whenever he’s needed help—courage, motivation, validation, reassurance—he squeezes his eyes shut tight. In his mind, he pictures an older, green-haired boy resting on his elbows and staring him down with verdant green eyes. Silently, Kokichi mouths the words along with the image playing in his head.

‘Hey, you’re smart. I know you can do it.’

‘Watch your back. Trust no one.’

Kaito winced and carefully pressed the speaker on. It crackled and popped for a moment before he spoke. The words came out in a strange, garbled mess of Kaito’s voice and Ouma’s voice, switching between the two mid-word and making it nearly incomprehensible.

“Sorry about that.” He grinned nervously and scratched the back of his head, glad the others couldn’t see him. “Technical difficulties.”
