This is the Huntsman on Savile Row. I had plans a LONG time ago to have Lizzie surprise William with a trip to a tailor on this famous street.
I never had a specific place in mind but there were three stores that popped up on every ‘must’ lists. This was one of them. I couldn’t resist tying Lizzie and Colin Firth together in some way. Apparently Colin Firth has used this store on more than one occasion as well. His suits from Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy were made here too :)
I’ve got an alternate scene for you. This is right after William and Lizzie leave the club. I rewrote this scene a few times and couldn’t seem to get the tone I really wanted. I wrote a full on conversation as they walked back to the hotel and I really didn’t like it. I needed things to build a different way.
You’ll see I used some of the conversation at a later point but it didn’t work here.
They’re down the block and turning the corner before Lizzie breaks the tension and starts laughing. William looks at her in surprise as they keep walking.
“Why are you laughing?” William asks, his voice still slightly uneven.
“We just got kicked out a club! For almost fighting!” Lizzie says, grabbing his arm. “That doesn’t sound like us at all.”
“I was two seconds away from breaking his nose for the way he was treating you!” William says. “I hate that I was ready to do that!”
“I was two seconds away from slapping him!” Lizzie offers. “I know you, Will! We solve things with words. That back there? Justified! He was a complete dick.”
William takes a deep breath and grabs her hand as they run across the crosswalk. Their hotel just up ahead and they’re more than ready to go back to their room already.
“The way you stood up for me was nothing short of remarkable, Will,” Lizzie says. “I’ve never seen you so angry at anybody!”
“He had no right to talk to you that way! I won’t stand for that,” William says. “I don’t care who it is! I know you can take care of yourself but he flat out ignored your rejection—”
“Multiple times,” Lizzie adds.
“And that pisses me off,” William says with a growl. Lizzie acknowledges the doorman as they walk into their hotel and head straight for the elevator. Luckily they don’t have to wait as the doors slide open right after she presses the up button. “The way you spoke to him was ruthless. He still didn’t back off.”
If you saw the last post about William’s outfit, here’s the bonus extra that goes with it.
Way back in the fall, I got a few various commissions done. You’ve seen pretty much all of them except this one. There’s no other commissions after this one (unless I go crazy again and decide I need a commission or two in the sequel) I wanted to see William drawn in the same position as the reference picture below pretty much for my enjoyment.
I had the lovely noct art draw me something and she did a wonderful job interpreting it. Her attention to detail was fantastic and worked hard to create something that I would love. Below the cut is the finished product.
So there’s a reason behind why William wore what he wore to the club. We all know how good he looks in a vest and how much Lizzie loves when he wears vests. Also, the man looks good in jeans and it’s a good outfit.
This was the other reason
I found this image (Credit, Found amongst the suit tag but the blog itself is VEERRY NSFW) and immediately took to it. I thought of a number of ideas on how to get William like this, why he’d wear it and sit like that...and it totally doesn’t matter. He’s wearing a vest and Lizzie’s a very happy girl.
Stay tuned for another extra that is directly related to this :)
This is Lizzie’s clubbing dress which is by Tony Ward. The original dress is black but when I found it (the second image), it looked dark blue to me. I thought I’d share the second image so you’d be able to picture both in your head when you read it.
I wanted a dress that gave off a fun and sexy vibe and this one fit the bill. I literally had three different people helping me find the right dress (Including Sarah) so I was excited when I stumbled upon this one.
Sarah and I went through a number of suits before settling on this one.
This is the ready to wear suit that was made for William and was set up by Lizzie. He wears it on the very last night of their honeymoon when they go out.
It helps that the model has the same body type as DVG so it helps your imagination even more.
This is the evening gown that Lizzie wore on the very last night of their honeymoon.
I didn’t have any intention of looking for a green dress. I was simply looking for one that wasn’t completely over the top, had straps or sleeves and no exposed back. I found a few (and I saved them for the future) but how could I resist a green dress when we know how much William loves to see Lizzie in green.
