Fine Art Adventure
I'm back! Hereford College of Arts to be precise. BA Fine Art (Part Time....that's the next six years).
My Fine Art adventure begins here:
Week One, saw us getting stuck into a studio project, based on summer work. We were asked to create a response to the visit we had been asked to make to a major gallery, with a view to commenting on the work seen and how it was curated. I visited the Chapter Gallery in Cardiff. The exhibition was Sticky Intimacy, Katie Cuddon, Emma Hart and Nicholas Pope. Images from the exhibition can be seen here:

My response to the work was a result of me being frustrated with the exhibition, which to me felt disjointed. It was difficult to determine which pieces belonged to which artist and I wanted to more easily understand more about them. I was compelled to try to make more of a connection between the pieces of work.
Experimenting with textures and college led to some interesting results, the most striking of which was a simple collage.
We each briefly spoke about our work which gave an opportunity to learn about the work of others, and who and what inspired them. An artist whose work I would like to further research is John Stezaker, not least as this features collage, relevant to my studio work.
