Why Indie Games Having A Chapter Based System Is Okay
So many people are critical of the Chapter Based System, and think it is unnecessary and would prefer indie games be released all at once. This is something I myself used to be critical of as well, however I eventually stumbled upon a really good defense of the Chapter Based System that changed my mind.
So this argument comes from one Phisnom in the video Pastra Plays/Rants About Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 at 2:50:52-2:55:50 Basically the argument is it make sense to start off making a game with a chapter structure from a developer's perspective. As the indie devs are just starting out and don't have any cash to invest. As well as there being no guarantee that a game will get the attention you want if you just put out the full game all at once. That the game flops and by extension the money spent can just end up be wasted.
Note, I still get not liking having to wait such a long time to get the full story; but I do think the following argument for it is pretty sound. But this argument I came across just makes sense, and I felt like sharing it here.
