haikyuu chapter 281
So as I predicted correctly since the start, here it comes the totally tale-like moment where Boku No Hero Karasuno learns something other players would have ages prior, and by accomplishing just what is requested as a basis to play in a team, he becomes the turning point factor in a game where he had been useless for HOURS (months, in terms of narrative outputs).
*sigh*.
I will try to focus on what I liked in this chapter, instead than dwelling into that, because my soul darkens and my volleyball loving heart cringes too much when things like these happen in this manga.
What was good and believable in this chapter then?
The fact that Daichi is amazing, that is certainly one.
The fact Tsukki and Kags can read the fantastic plays of the twins and the fake trap of Atsumu in synch (see my panel), which makes me always super happy (they would be a far more stunning duo than the Lord and the diminutive Head Chief of Annoyance), and the fact the same synchronized reading of the situation has been repeated for Kenma and Kags, later on. These two in fact, being highly skilled setters can sense their own species in Atsumu, and their reasoning is to explain to the readers what is so great about him and the setter job in general.
Then I loved once more the banter of the twins… they are SO adorable… I want to squeeze them because no way they deserve to lose for Hinata’s glory AT ALL, but they sadly will, and it’s simply UNFAIR. I could be feeling a bit better if the writing would present their loss as a loss against a TEAM, but it’s already clear how Furudate is gonna fu** up again and majorly and transform the latest chapters of the game in some puke inducing Hinata show off.
I also loved how cute and kind is Kindaichi (let’s refocus on good things… I can get away otherwise).
Poor Yuutarou… he keeps sulking about the past, and still he is honestly hoping Karasuno can win. He is a tender marshmallow of a big guy, and I have a soft spot for him.
But okay… for how much I try forgetting… I really hate the absurd and hyperbolic description we have to suffer about the “miracle” of Hinata receiving in this chapter.
It is what makes me hate Haikyuu these days.
We have gotten super wonderful and resisting plays by the whole team on the court, but none has spent a word on Daichi, Tanaka, or even Tsukki.
But since Boku No Hero Karasuno, poor soul, is willingly and short, let’s all marvel because… GASP! He has finally come to grab how one has to receive while covering the back of the court.
*rolling eyes never stops*.
And just as I stated in the previous post: for Lord Kags this is just biz as usual. He finally can count on a decent receive also from the fifth one who has to try to give him a manageable pass for setting. There is NOTHING more than that to his words. He is finally satisfied a tragic human has become SLIGHTLY more reliable.
At least I got to see Atsumu’s beautiful face shocked by what the annoying midget has done.
That is a little consolation for the insanity of the whole set up of the chapter.
From now on, this game which was so beautiful is destined to become pure fiction, so I expect Hinata to do whatever his crew requests for him to do, which the mangaka will oblige in serving, like a maid in a café to their masters.
It was inevitable, I said it myself so many times… but I still turn appalled at the easiness Furudate trashes this beautiful sport with.
It’s a shame, but at least we got the twins and what I enlightened in the roll up.
See ya ;)
