Footsteps were approaching, but you didn't lift your head up until you could see sneakers stopping in your vision. You knew those sneakers. "Was it necessary?" her voice cut through the air - half scolding and half curious. You didn't look up still, not yet. You didn't even move because you were just awaiting some lecture, even if you knew she wasn't the type to do that. She was the type to just say a few words and know that from there, you would already know what you did wrong. Because she knew you. Hell, she knew you better than anyone and the fact that you weren't scared by that scared you.
The silence made her sigh and the sound made your eyes flicker up. Because your head was bent down, it didn't allow you to see anything but her jean covered thighs and seconds later they were moving closer until Robin was sitting next to you and you were only staring at the cement again. "You look like shit."
You snort at that, a half amused breath pushing out through your nose before you just shake your head. "You always look like shit," your voice is cracked and hoarse when you use it for the first time in what feels like six hours. You clear your throat a few times, your hands unclasping and moving to settle onto the edges of the bench on either sides of you.
"Watch it, Delgado," the amusement in her voice makes you slowly lift your head up and turn it in her direction, revealing a smirk on your lips. The trademark Delgado one. She's smirking herself, her own little trademark one that makes yours subconscious hitch up a bit higher. "Now answer my question."
A scowl instantly turns on your lips and you snap your head away from her, looking forward. "Landon's an asshole," you let that be your answer. Because even if it technically wasn't necessary, you knew that you'd have the same reaction every time.
"So are you, and I don't break a bottle over your head for it," another amused breath pushed past your lips and you shake your head, keeping your gaze off to the side in a completely different direction from her. She wouldn't get it. You didn't want her to.
"Maybe you should," you shrug a lone shoulder, still making sure to keep your gaze averted elsewhere. A nervous tick consumes you and you find your fingers tapping against the cement.
She sighs. Loudly and what you would call in a dramatic way. You could practically see the agitation etching onto her face without having to turn back to look at her. She may know you, but that doesn't make her any less frustrated with you when you get like this. "He just called me 'babe', Cruz. He calls everybody 'babe'."
Your jaw tightens and you can nearly hear the sound of his obnoxious as fuck voice addressing Robin with the pet name. The Soc might address everybody like that, but it was disrespectful for him to do it to one of your girls. You didn't give a rat's ass if he did it to his dirty Soc whores, but he drew a line and you had to take action. That action being breaking a bottle over his head that resulted in the rumble that happened that night. "Whatever," you exhale out a breath with the word, attempting to start breathing normally again instead of through clenched teeth.
"Cruz," her soft voice attempts to soothe you, but you don't let it. You didn't want her to have that kind of an effect on you. Cruz Delgado is not somebody who gets whipped by a girl, the mere thought made your face scrunch. "Cruz," no longer soft, you know she's now trying to get your attention and you decide to give to her. Albeit reluctantly. You weren't expecting her hand to cup your cheek when you looked back at her, the other not taking long to rise and rest on the other side. She's pulling you closer, but you don't budge much - mostly out of shock than the fact that you didn't want to. She doesn't take that as a reason to cease trying to get closer to you and instead moves herself the rest of the way. Your heart beats fast and you blink, giving her a curious look before darting your eyes down when you see her wet her lips. You expect her to speak, but she doesn't. Instead, her fingertips brush along your skin in a way that caused a chill to go through you. It's hard not to lean into the touch - that is until it skims over the bruising on your jaw that made you do the exact opposite and flinch away. Her face shows her apology, but she doesn't voice it, nor does she stop pressing her fingers against the throbbing bruise. She's more ginger about it and you wonder what the hell she's doing. "It's not worth it," she finally says, her hands falling from your face and leaving a certain coldness.
Your eyes blink a few more times and you slowly let out a breath, reaching a hand up to scratch at the part of your jaw that wasn't injured. In all honesty, you don't have an answer to that which causes you to just look away once again. You stare at the entrance of the hospital, wanting to enter it and find out what the hell is taking Cherry so long to bring him news. "DJ has a concussion," you inform her. It's your indirect way of agreeing with her.
"So, I heard," she's quiet when she answers before you hear her moving and before you know it, she's standing in front of you. You catch sight of her more, taking in what she was wearing. Stained white tee, dark denim jeans and a pair of converses was her usual style but it was the added layer that caused your lips to hitch up slightly. Your leather jacket. "Come on, lets go inside," she nods towards the direction of the entrance and your eyes flicker towards it before you nod.
It pains you to stand, though, you don't dare let that show on your face. You just wrap your arm to hang possessively around Robin's shoulder, giving yourself more of a reminder that she was wearing your leather jacket. Giving yourself more of a reminder that she was yours. Even if neither of you would technically say it, she was. And the ring situated on your right hand ring finger was a reminder that you were sort of hers, too.
