1.What would Sid’s last words to be, and who would they want to say them to? 

“They’re safe right? Everyone is safe?” It would be a fitting full circle for it to be Barry but well...that’s a thing that can’t happen. Probably Zach though, because she knows that if she died, he’d make sure to keep going. 

3. Zach is given the choice to either die an excruciatingly painful death or have one of their loved ones die in a painless way. Do they save their loved one’s life or their own?

100% saving his loved ones. Let’s be real, there are very specific people he would do this for. One in particular. He’s got that noble idiot thing going on so he’d probably step up to the plate for the rest of the world and take the excruciatingly painful death to make sure no one else died. 

5.What are Barry’s deepest regrets?

He’s been alive for so long, so many things are regrettable. But his biggest regrets are about the Milton family. He wishes he could have saved Tommy. At least the once. And he’ll always regret having to watch Sidney think she was losing her mind or very sick and not being able to say anything because none of the other seraphim believed him.

“I need to ask you a favour.” It wasn’t often he was caught off guard. It was usually the other way around. But Barachiel had gotten use to Tommy Milton rising above his expectations. 

“You’re oddly serious Tom.” 

“It’s a pretty serious situation Barry.” Tommy was shrugging into a jacket, always moving that one was.

“I’ve asked you not to call me that.” he frowned and his charge cracked a hint of a smile. 

“Well Barachiel doesn’t roll off the tongue quite as easy y’know?” He’d never met a human quite as easy going as Tom Milton, but in the time they’d spent together he’d also gotten to know the look in his eyes. It had been there the first time Barry had appeared to him, when he’d explained everything. He’d grown up since then, a lot had happened, but it was easily recognizable. 

Barry made a rolling motion with his hand to urge the man on with the conversation. 

“What’s the favour?” 

“I don’t know how this is gonna go...but just in case it goes south. I need to know my girls are gonna be okay. I need you to promise you’ll look out for them.” 

“Tom...”

“Just promise Barry. You guys owe me this, after everything, you owe me this one thing.” It wasn’t a request he could really turn down, not after that. He nodded 

“I’ll do my best. That kid of yours is already a handful.” Tom’s face lit up at the mention of Sidney. 

“Takes after her Dad. Let’s go kick some shedim butt huh?” he clapped Barry on the shoulder and the seraph felt the need for that promise slip away. If anyone could do this it was Milton. 

It wasn’t until later, seeing that panic in Tommy’s eyes, that he realized he’d been too cocky. The man who was supposed to be the guardian, the human who’d become his friend gripped the sleeve of his shirt. 

“You promised. You take care of them.”

They don’t measure time the way the humans seem to. But he’s seen the rise and fall of too many of their civilizations and leaders not to know that it’s been centuries since they first came through. Barachiel didn’t remember a stretch of time quite as long as the last few years though. A hundred faces and countless kings gone in the blink of the eye, but Tommy Milton’s death slowed his measure of time to a crawl.

He’d felt it, how long it had taken for the last of the light to leave the man’s eyes. How long he’d sat there until Isaiah came to collect him. The fires had stopped, he didn’t know when, and the slain shedim had been taken away. Everything to make the guardian’s death look like an accident had been taken care of and he was forced to accept that there was nothing that could bring Tommy back. The human he’d kept watch over, the man who’d become his friend, and the father who’d made a seraph promise to keep his daughter safe.

Barachiel knew he should have returned with the others. To wait for the next guardian, to prepare for the shedim’s eventual return. They were never gone for long. But he couldn’t just up and leave the girl he’d promised he’d protect. Sidney was so young, she didn’t know what had happened. She didn’t know or remember her father’s friend. Tommy had been so good at keeping those two parts of his life separate, Barachiel didn’t know how he’d done it. He would keep his promise, disguise himself and only appear when absolutely necessary.

He just hadn’t counted on how long those years would feel. How out of place and disconnected he felt from everything. It wasn’t until he sensed the change in her, the change in the balance of this existence that time seemed to kick back into gear. It wasn’t until she’d finally seen him, until he’d folded himself into her life, that he felt a sense of the being he’d been when he’d made that promise. Not just Barachiel the seraphim but Barry - proud protector and friend to the Milton family.

 Do they have any titles? How did they get them?

Whilenot an official title he’s become known as the guardian of guardians. It wouldprobably be more accurate to call him the Milton family’s personal guardianangel. His time as a warrior against the shedim earned him many whisperedaccolades and for a short time the nice and cuddly title Ruthless Destroyer (seraphimare very annoyingly literal).

 Do animals like them? Do they get on well with animals? 

Dogs fucking love him. They cross thestreet to try to greet him. Dani’s dog Tank will not leave him alone. He’d pickdogs over most humans any day of the week. Sid is sure he’d pick Tank over hersome days. Cats hate him and the feeling is mutual.

Are they goodat cooking? Do they enjoy it? What do others think of their cooking?

God no.And he knows it. He’s not willing to inflict his cooking on anyone. Seraphimdon’t really have to eat so he never had to learn. A couple of times he’s triedthings that are supposed to be easy, like toast. And failed miserably.

Do they likemusicals? Music in general? What do they do when they’re favourite song comes?

Musicalsare a no. Somehow (probably Dani’s fault) the three of them ended up watchingHairspray one night and he sighed and grumbled his way through the entirething. And don’t even get him startedon things like Les Mis. Why do they have to sing everything? Can’t people justhave normal conversations? Doesn’t anyone notice that he’s broken out intosong? His favourite music seems to be very old, there are some top 40 hits fromthe late 90’s that Sid assumes came from his friendship with her father, butmostly it’s things from the 40s and 50s, scratchy recordings on vinyl. Everynow and again out of nowhere he’ll start humming some random waltz from the1700’s and everyone is very confused.

How do they actwhen they’re happy? Do they sing? Dance? Hum? Or do they hide their emotions? 

Barry is mostly quiet, there’s lessgrumbling when he’s happy, a soft kind of peace more than anything. He reallyonly smiles when he’s around Sidney, which freaks the rest of the staff at the restaurantto no end. He hums his way through tasks, things that sound a lot likeconcertos and pop music from eras much older than he appears to be. When calledon it he goes right back to being grumpy, like he’s been caught.

What do theydress like? What sorta shops do they buy clothes from? Do they wear the fashionthat they like? What do they wear to sleep? Do they wear makeup? What’s theirhair like?

It’s across between someone’s dad and a fourteen year old boy. Lots of sweaters withterrible patterns and jeans. Occasionally wrinkled button up shirts and chinoswhen he’s supposed to look presentable. He’s all about layers and clothes thatare comfortable. His hair is short because it’s easy to maintain, and harder tomess up when he’s always running his hands over his trying not to tell everyoneat the restaurant that he hates them (Sid excluded of course).

Sid’sgone shopping with him a handful of times and made him pick out decent jeansbut most of his clothing comes from consignment shops and places like valuevillage. Pre-loved he calls them. There is a reason those sweaters are markeddown to 50 cents Barry.

 What is their favourite season? Type of weather? Are theygood in the cold or the heat? What weather do they complain in the most? 

No season, weather is the worst. Theydon’t have weather in their dimension, and this thing where it’s different dayto day is a whole heap of bullshit. He complains about every season as if it’sworse than the last. Every season is ‘the worst season ever’. Fall is basicallythe only time he’s less grumpy about it, and only if it’s not raining.

How do they actin a formal occasion? What do they think of black tie wear? Do they enjoy fancyparties and love to chit chat or loathe the whole event?

Barryhas avoided every major formal event he can. It requires him to be in a roomwith too many people and in clothes he doesn’t find comfortable. Even in theseraph version he tends to hang around the edges of festivities for theappropriate amount of time until he can leave. There’s not really black tiethere. If he had to wear a tie he would be tugging on it the entire time.

 What is their most valued object? Are they sentimental? Isthere something they have to take everywhere with them?

He’sgot a sword he’s had for a few millennia that’s probably the closest thing to avaluable possession. He carried Tom Milton’s journal with him everywhere hewent for years before he decided it was time to give it to Sid.
