vera and I definitely had a chat about Reese’s Deal today in DMs after I had emotions and Reese spontaneously took 4 fire damage after a wis save while eating a heroes’ feast and sometimes your herbo who is generally just there to be funny and gay can make you hhhhhhhhh
Thought I was gonna be done having Reese emotions and could go back to her just being dumb and hot but instead I had to cast pass without trace and think about quiet moments after a wildfire has ravaged a forest 🙄🙄🙄

None have permanently, but famously Lander died and we had one third level spell slot left.

23. when do they feel the most beautiful?
Reese: I don’t think Reese concerns herself too much with beauty, but feels most comfortable in her own skin when weaving magic to protect people.
Scoria: Well right now she’s feeling rather hassled and very tired. She felt most beautiful on her own at the ceremony that celebrated her ascension to Head Librarian, but Belinda always makes her feel beautiful, even now when she has bags under her eyes and hasn’t slept in days.
31. do they ever lash out at people?
They both have a tendency to, yeah. Being beings shaped by powerful fire magic, I think they both are rather temperamental. Scoria has spent a long time and put in a lot of hard work to temper that tendency, whereas Reese is just at the beginning of that path. (Reese doesn’t do it to people she loves anymore as much, but she Will Fuck Up anyone who threatens her friends)
35. pick a character that they know. what is something that they do that your character finds annoying/frustrating?
Reese: I don’t know if any of the characters we’ve met so far really truly annoy Reese. Maybe Kate? But even then I think she finds it part irritating part funny.
Scoria: Oh to have the time and energy to list everything Scoria finds annoying about the characters she knows… as far as characters who aren’t around anymore, Andrik’s insistence on elevating his library to the level of the Library was frustrating, if only because Andrik had no sense of the work she puts in maintaining wards, commanding staff, and playing politics with the Order.

I answered this one a bit earlier in the evening for these guys, so here are the responses from then, with some additions as I think more
Nikola: I think he mostly collects bits and bobbins that he might be able to use while artificing or to magically launch at someone. Otherwise, I think he's typically too preoccupied within his own head to think about collecting. [Addedendum] If he were less occupied with recreating magic objects and also his magical cannons, he'd probably collect something either really mundane like stamps, or something insane and maybe slightly illegal.
Reese: Reese would be the type to collect just weird little rocks or oddly shaped sticks. Growing up, I imagine she would wander through the forest and collect the shiny things and the funky things and bring them home to the druids, but mostly dropped that habit once she left home, for practicality's sake. [Addendum] Now she collects party members,f
27. what do they do when they want to impress someone?
Nikola: I think Nik is never ever ever concerned with impressing people. Not that he doesn't think about others, nor is he particularly self-absorbed, he just is so busy thinking about literally everything that's going on around him that he doesn't ever stop to consider how others perceive him. And if the thought ever crosses his very full mind, he figures that if he needs to impress someone, his actions will do it for him.
Reese: Hmmmm this one is harder... I think that the people she wants to impress are the people that she just can't seem to speak around (case in point: Scarlet), which just makes it all that much harder to actually impress them. If she were to really try and impress someone, though, she'd probably do something along the lines of casting incendiary cloud in the last combat she was in. Powerful magic always is impressive, right?
28. what is something that helps to comfort them?
Nikola: Nik will play with and cuddle Faraday, who, despite being made of a wire cage, is surprisingly warm. If he's particularly anxious and is sitting around, he'll sometime unwrap and rewrap Faraday's cage.
Reese: Sitting quietly by herself in a forest will always be the most calming thing for Reese, though recently being able to talk to Zhill, Das, Jess, or Cadence--but especially Zhill--has been a great source of comfort for her.
29. are they very in tune with their mind/body?
Nikola: Mind, yes; body, less-so, but has started to compensate by infusing a Belt of Hill Giant's Strength.
Reese: Yes, though the distinction between the two is fuzzy for her. Did the Wildfire Spirit exist in mind, body, or soul? She can't be sure, and now the magic that has rushed in to replace the spirit exists not solely in her, but in her party members as well, which has increased her awareness of everything.

33. when creating your character, did you take inspiration from characters in other media? or just other media in general? name them, if any!
I can't say that I've had any quantifiable identifiable inspiration for any of my characters really. Nik is maybe sorta based on the trope image of a nutty professor, but beyond that, I really don't think there's anything that I can really call out as inspiration for anyone.
42. how similar is your character to you?
Nik: Incredibly, but in a caricature way.
Reese: Not particularly. We maybe share our tendency to let any distress roll off our backs.
Wayland: I don't know him very well yet! I'd say we probably share some characteristics, but overall he's not all that much like me. This answer might change.

I think I’ll just answer for every character cause I’m bored and in a mood :sparkling_heart: 5. Your character rolled two nat 20s in a row to flirt with a goddess they weren’t really interested in, and the goddess gives them her number. Does your character call her? Lander does not know how to flirt, but as a himbo and also a saint in his own right, would probably call her to hang out cause he thinks she thinks they’re friends now and would want to get coffee. Taliesin probably would, but just to tell her that he isn’t into her that way, but he’s happy to be friends if she still wants to be.
Nikola wouldn’t. Reese would but when the goddess picks up, she turns bright red and hangs up. Wyatt has a boyfriend smh. 15. Your character has an ability that lets them touch a person and learn about their past. However, if they roll badly, the DM will change the story so that what happened in their past is worse than it otherwise might have been. How would your character use this ability? I’m not sure if any of my characters would use this ability? Maybe Glass would (idk Glass yet so I can’t speak to them), or redacted Evil and Evil character, in the hopes of rolling poorly. 19. Your character’s level 20 polycule is being forced to fight to the death by a god. There’s an incredibly incredibly annoying wizard who’s also here. He trapped two of your party members in a prismatic wall. You can kill him easily, but he keeps insisting his spells are useful, and you’ll probably have to fight this god eventually. What do you do? Lander makes friends and suffers quietly.
Taliesin also suffers quietly but does not make friends.
Nikola puts in earplugs and continues doing whatever it is he does. Reese slaps the wizard. Wyatt kills the wizard. This is all a video game, after all.
