Chessie's sexuality is best described as Énassexual. Énassexual is a micro-label on the asexual spectrum defined as someone who only feels sexual attraction to one individual in their lifetime. The only person she's sexually attracted to is her husband, Marcello.

That said, Chessie understands what is conventionally and socially sexually attractive. Hence her teasing Gemma by saying, "Well done," about Gemma's marriage to Markus. However, as an artist, she finds unconventional beauty most striking: a hook nose, a crooked smile, pockmarks, etc.

Chessie has a hard-to-define relationship with Jude. They are a combination of sibling-esque, (nonsexual) soulmates, and best friends. They talk on the phone or text five to ten times a week. While an occasional conversation may be deep, they often talk about mundane things. Chessie might call him about the 'perfect' tomatoes she found at the farmer's market and the Pomodoro sauce she made. Jude might call to tell her about a drawing one of his kids made. Their conversations may last five minutes, given they are busy parents.

With her parents and older sister all uni-educated, Chessie also felt pressured into attending. Her uni days lasted one semester. She came home homesick, hated being away from Marcello, and told her parents that she knew more about art than her professors.

Chessie is a capable cook but has no passion for it. With owning a gallery and her parents living on the same property, Chessie is more than willing to let her mom cook most of the meals. She dislikes baking because you can't just throw in ingredients without measuring. But Marcello loves to bake, so there is no shortage of baked goods around the house for their three children.

Jude is a basic cook. He shares kitchen duties with Beatrice, preparing the simple, plain meals he grew up on. Baking is most likely to involve a box mix.

Jude isn't bothered if the kids have scribbled on the walls or have craft items and toys everywhere. Nor is he fussed if they run around with bedhead and mismatched clothes all day. That said, he will make sure they are presentable for school or going into the village.

While Jude is a reasonably lenient parent, he does expect kindness and responsibility from his children. Everyone works together on the farm from toddlerhood on up.

Despite being an Aries, Jude's not an alpha male; he's more of a cinnamon roll. Having been in a relationship for most of his adult life, he's not the one to ask if you need dating advice.

Angus is his third Border Collie; the first two have crossed the rainbow bridge. He trained them (to herd) himself. He likes cats, but he's very much a dog person.

Jude was created in CAS for backdrop purposes. He is the brother-in-law to Markus's cousin. I expected him to hang out in the pub, play poker with the lads, and play football/soccer games. He was intended to be an ordinary farmer who loved his family. He WAS NOT supposed to spend time with Gemma, incite jealousy in Markus, or be Chessie's bestie. And yet the man had the audacity to walk into my story, lean against the door frame, and say with a wink, "I'm here to fuck shit up."

Markus is a Taurus, and Gemma is a Leo. They are both stubborn and prone to digging in their heels. They can become rather fiery, but they are quick to apologize.

Neither one of them grew up in a happy, stable home. And they carry some heavy baggage, creating issues. But they are doing their best to navigate a committed relationship.

They are tactile by nature. Holding hands while walking, sharing the same chair, and Gemma draped over Markus on the couch is the norm for them.  

Their couple communication skills can be excellent (better than most couples) or bad (holding it all in.) There is no happy medium. It's an issue they need to improve.

They've only known each other for a year and spent that year wrapped up in each other. Transitioning into their new life and demands will test them in unexpected ways.

I love them because they've faced harsh difficulties in life yet decided to lower their walls, open their hearts, and choose love.
