You knew this was coming! Gotta get the romantic/sexual headcanons out of the way, so that people will know how I see them being shipped! Just like before with Toyama and Suginami's alignments, I apologize if I get things wrong and/or offend anyone with what I do. I'm not fully aware of all the different flags and stuff, so please do correct me! And remember, you are seen!
ー Hisoka
Homoromantic/Bisexual
Hisoka has dated a range of people male, female, and otherwise. In the end, however, he’s found that being with another man romantically is what feels right for him. Not that he’s been able to develop a relationship as of late, but he was dating a few guys back in his ENAN days. Nothing has stuck for him yet and it probably won’t happen until his life is sorted back together.
In terms of sex, however, he does identify as bi. Even with his preference for men, he isn’t opposed to spending a night with a woman in an intimate way. The majority of women he’s been with have been in situations involving multiple people. Still, he’s fine hooking up with another woman one-on-one as long as the other understands it is a situationship and nothing more.
ー Daiki
Panromantic/Bicurious
He has no clue what is going on in terms of identities, but he’s very eager to learn about others no matter what they identify as. In fact, it is very rare for Daiki to develop a crush, but when he does, he is obvious about it by being extra clingy and pestering his person of interest like a puppy. If he gets an immediate, blunt rejection, he tends to move on abnormally quickly and treat the person as if nothing ever happened.
Sexuality hasn’t been a focus in Daiki’s life thus far. If someone were to ask, he would probably be classified as bicurious, having an attraction to both men and women. He’s just not sure what exactly gets his attention since his obsessions take the forefront of his mind instead of ‘frivolous’ things like love and sex.
ー Jack
Heteroromantic/Heterosexual
The butler keeps his romantic life a close-kept secret, much like the rest of his life. It can easily be said though, that his eyes can wander a little when an attractive woman flaunts herself, especially at him. The same cannot be said for men, so it’s safe to say that Jack is hetero.
The same can be applied from Jack’s romantic alignment with his sexuality. His preference for submissive women cannot apply to men. Not only does he find being with another man unappealing, but imagining a man in the same sexual situation he enjoys makes him upset so to speak. As much of a sadist Jack might be, sexual humiliation is something he strictly keeps between himself and a consenting woman. Anything else is on the board when not in a romantic or sexual context, which he is more than eager to place on Hisoka knowing it gets on the redhead’s nerves.
While Shuu does not condone most violent or obsessive behaviors, he views stalking or hiring a person to stalk another as acceptable.
This mostly stems from his own personal experience when he followed his mother as a teen to find out about her infidelity against his father and family.
That said, Shuu has a pretty disturbing habit of following and keeping tabs on the people he cares about the most. The people in the list are mainly his family members, but close friends like his mentor and even Ryuko have been subject to Shuu's paranoia.
So far none of Shuu's family or friends have really confronted him about it either because they see it as harmless or insignificant. The only person that has caught and reprimanded him is his former mentor Iseri Toshiaki. Problem is, the reprimands mostly consisted of Shuu being critiqued for being sloppy, which only has fueled him into doing better at his stalking endeavors.
During the period of time Yano was a delinquent (age 16-18) he found himself slapping stickers he personally doodled onto public spaces. He actually tried spray painting walls but almost got caught so he avoids it out of fear. He also stole stuff, but mostly petty theft by stealing from convenience stores. He never got caught for it, but police started to get on his case about the graffiti and loitering outside of stores, which made him drop the hobby.
The loitering habit does come back in the form of his traveling at the age of 21 when he dropped out of college. When he got his first Hypnosis Microphone a year later, he begins to actively pick rap fights, losing repeatedly at the start before he had gotten a hang of what worked for him.
While Maki hasn't been properly diagnosed, its implied that he suffers from ephebiphobia: a fear of teenagers.
Thanks to his time spent constantly being bullied as a teen, Maki cannot stand being around anymore than one or two adolescents at once. If a group of teenagers approach him, he usually turns tail and gets the hell out of the room, even the building if he deems it necessary.
This proves to be troublesome for multiple reasons, but most importantly he cannot bring himself to go to middle or high schools at all. At best, he can bring himself to tutor one or two students at a time, but an entire classroom would be too much for him.
Despite this fact, he doesn't hold any hatred towards them. In fact, he is aware that his fears are irrational and hates the fact he is so terrified of teenagers.
Part of why Maki is so close to Rosho is mostly because Maki understands that Rosho is sincerely kind and watchful of his students over in the private school Rosho teaches in (a contrast to what Maki experienced). Because of this, there are moments where the albino man will ask Rosho about his students and how they are doing, in a minuscule attempt to desensitize himself to the idea of being around teenagers.
Shuu's sisters have also been helping him get over his fears, although it's been a slow process. Every time all three sisters appear in a group, Maki is quick to hide behind the team members or any other object nearby (a useless attempt with how freakishly tall Maki is).
Asato and Yano dyed their hair back during the year they went to high school together. Yano wanted to “look cool” and wanted Asato to do it with him. It took a lot of convincing Asato, but eventually, Yano was able to rope Asato in.
Asato's natural hair color is dark violet. He chose neon green because he liked that color the most out of the colors Yano had brought that day. Despite being extremely reluctant about the original idea, he grew to like his new style and sticks with it very well.
Yano's natural hair color is hazel. Back then, his hairstyle was shorter and the orange covered just the top of his head. He lost interest in maintaining it after his traumatic incident and so the orange bits remain. (Not to mention his cowardly attempt to touch up only ended in him running away.)
The team is heavily built upon their emotions. Each member has their struggles and coping methods, which they have openly shared with each other (for the most part).
Asato struggles with how to express his emotions. The loss of his family left him numb and the years of not acknowledging it properly made it difficult for him to display his emotions in the years afterward unless it's a smile (this is in part to his grandmother’s attempts to encourage him to show something, anything).
Of course, people have told him how disturbing his smile looked starting in middle school, so he began to try and suppress that as well.
Yano overshares his emotions. More often than not, his tears aren't only for sadness or grief. When he's pissed off, he'll cry. When he's overjoyed, he'll cry. No matter his emotion, he doesn't care what people think, he will openly show how much others matter to him!
He doesn't try to shame Asato for his lack of emotions and if anything, Yano wants to be the emotional mentor to Asato. But Asato, like most people, doesn't really like the crying, which makes Asato ignore Yano’s advice more often than Yano would like to admit.
Kensaku may seem calm and collected, but he chooses to use toxic positivity or cope with substances instead of confronting his problems - all in all, choosing avoidance.
Ken does this a lot, especially regarding his loss of memories. Whenever he sees people involved in that specific incident, he chooses to ignore it with positive confirmation, rather than pushing for answers or solutions.
When he is out of a specific person's sight, he'll usually go straight to smoking a cigarette, to try and alleviate his stress.
He would never admit it aloud, but he wishes he still did drugs like he did six years ago. However he knows there are layers upon layers of consequences if he did that, so he remains strong in his decision to stay clean.
Kensaku's work at Toi Pharmaceutical is supposed to be focused on research, namely working in a lab isolating specific chemicals from plants, fungi, and other bacteria to help create new drugs. These medications mainly consist of painkillers, sleep aids, antibiotics, and nutritional supplements (ironically, Kensaku’s specialty).
But if it wasn't obvious enough, Ken likes to wander around the building and bother people at their jobs, namely the pharmaceutical workers who give patients their medication.
For the most part, he has been allowed to do these jobs without too many reprimands from his boss. This includes helping give patients their prescription and even delivering it personally to their residence, something his company is known for as a slight nod to old medicine selling techniques.
On the other hand, he has gotten lectured more times than he could probably count on his hands.
The only thing stopping him from getting fired is:
The work he actually completes in the lab helps the company a lot, especially the ideas he relays to company manufacturers who finalize Ken and other researchers’ work into full-fledged products.
Mind you, ideas he gathers from personally meeting with patients to make the medications cheaper, easier to administer, and whatever other complaints people have pointed out.
Customers give so much positive feedback thanks to Ken’s inputs on the drugs that there is a fear of upsetting the flow of business as a result of firing Kensaku, which bothers higher-ups in the company.
Honestly, Kensaku would probably do better as a representative/spokesperson for the Toi Pharmaceutical company, but Ken has outright refused any other position, stating he prefers where is currently.
Y'all know I'm gonna jump on this boat. I just needed to first make sure I got my degree before I got to posting again, but hey, I did it at least! I'm on the same uncertain raft on certain aspects of orientations and all, so if I offend someone unintentionally, I apologize. It has been a struggle to find the right flags for some stuff.
Shoutout to @saitama-division aka @shinagawa-division for starting this train!
ー Asato
Grayromantic Asexual (Sex-Averse)
Romance is rarely on his mind if it even crosses his thoughts at all. Although his lack of interest disappoints his grandmother, Asato would probably try building a romantic relationship out of curiosity rather than actual romantic feelings.
Even with Asato’s inexperience, he understands sex and isn’t outright disgusted by the idea of engaging in sexual activities, but it doesn’t interest him at all so he isn’t going to be willing to try it.
ーYano
Biromantic Bisexual
During his rebellious years, Yano experimented with both men and women and found that he liked both sides, although he leans towards women more often than men. Still, he is pretty open with dating people although he hasn’t had very good luck maintaining a relationship for the long term.
Again, he is more female leaning when it comes to his relationships including sex. He isn’t opposed to being with another guy though, even if he isn’t into guys as much as he likes girls.
ー Kensaku
Demiromantic Bicurious
Being as chaotically busy as he is, Ken needs someone to be patient with him when it comes to a relationship. If he can get close to a person and get it through his thick skull that they like him more than just a friend, he will begin to reciprocate those feelings back. Rushing into things is not his style - he wants to take his time to get to know his partner and make sure they’re right for him.
In the past few years, Kensaku has found out that he may have some homosexual feelings from his youth still lingering. While Ken himself is unsure of how to grapple with his inner turmoils, he is under 'bicurious' instead of heterosexual for now, that is until he can sort both his romantic and sexual attractions with both a male and female colleague/friends.
