tension || @petergrew-whoisleft
After Remus left, presumably to go after Sirius, though James hadn’t asked and the taller lad hadn’t volunteered the information, James found himself slumped on his bed, staring up at the angular ceiling of the dormitory. Tension thrummed through his body, leaving his shoulders tight and his fingers drumming an anxious rhythm on his knees. Should he have gone after Sirius when he stormed out? Should he have explained differently; could he have done it better? Why hadn’t he just sucked up the fear and worry and told his friends the truth at the start of the year?
Perseverating and doubting himself had never been part of who James was, and he loathed that it was what he was doing, but it was impossible to think about the last few hours and pretend that he’d handled any of it well. He’d been a prat to Remus, hurt Sirius -- more than once -- and actually shouted at him, and still wasn’t any closer to processing the fact that his father was hospitalized and maybe dying, and there was nothing he could do about it.
Naturally, because he hadn’t yet managed to alienate the third of his friends, Peter came stamping up the stairs to the dorm a while after the others had left, and James started at the sight of him, which was absolutely ridiculous. It wasn’t as if he was used to being alone in the dorm; the four of them had shared for their entire tenure at Hogwarts. “Fair warning, Pete,” James said wryly, the tapping of his fingers and the tension around his forced smile signaling to anyone who knew him that he was struggling. “There’s a black cloud following me around today, and I can’t seem to help but piss off anyone who talks to me. I’m a right mess, if I’m honest. You might want to keep your distance, in case it’s catching.”
Now that the other two knew, it was only a matter of time until Peter heard about James’ fuck-up and realized what was going on. He needed to find the courage to open his mouth and tell the last Marauder himself -- James was mostly sure that Wormtail wouldn’t react as badly as Sirius had, if he found out accidentally, but James didn’t particularly want to risk it. Nor did he particularly want to talk about it. So where did that leave him?
“I probably should warn you that Sirius and Remus probably aren’t going to be talking to me anytime soon,” James added finally, tipping his head back to revisit the ceiling. “Well, Sirius definitely isn’t. I’m not sure about Remus. But you should likely be on their side -- they’re not wrong.”

The Fae World: Astora: Moira : A New World
There was a light. I remember that better than anything else. I felt it drawing me towards it, in such a way I knew I wouldn’t have been able to stop what was coming from happening, and then I stepped into it. I glanced over my shoulder, at the car in the ditch and my body. I was dead, so, logically, wherever I found myself must have been the afterlife. Yet, when I looked around, I found I was…
