Tumblr’s letting me post images again! Have a sad.
Duserra decided to hand me some new backstory information; nothing that hadn’t been implied already, but it’s still upsetting to have the specifics confirmed.

Does that mean Melone would not go for androgynous or tomboyish women?
((Seems like this is for me sooooooo text response. (Sorry if this is rambly, I’m on all the cold medicine.) With any question having to do with characterization, I say look to the canon. Melone is scientific, and he doesn’t see a person past their utility. Per the scientific-minded part: even an androgynous or tomboyish woman would have feminine markers to him in fat distribution across the body and face, anatomical structure, and hormonal balances. It’s not all just in the makeup and heels. They’d probably be safer from the compulsion to kill, but I don’t see him as being interested. A Stand is the manifestation of a user’s psyche, and Melone’s stand literally objectifies people. It also works from a distance. That’s pretty telling. Male or female, Melone has issues fundamentally connecting to another person on a human level. The only people he can come close to connecting with are those he sees similarity with, and those he respects or admires. He doesn’t like getting close to people. He’ll flirt and play the game, but it’s all superficial. He only gets a modicum of closeness with people he’s around a whole lot, and he doesn’t go out of his way to be around people.
TL;DR, Due to Melone’s portrayal in canon, I do not see him showing personal interest in anyone outside of very rare exceptions.))
So the fact that this line is coming from a Consular who was an Imperial slave as a child is... fun. (: She knows exactly what that’s like, Felix. She’s very familiar with what’s at stake.
Oh boy, if the Shrine of Healing on Voss didn’t give me Feelings(TM) about Zashiil. Minor Jedi Consular storyline spoilers ahead.
The Jedi Consular storyline (LS, anyway) really is just about sacrificing pieces of yourself and your strength over and over for the sake of others, isn't it? The plague, and now this. (I knew there was going to be a plot point around Voss healing-sacrifices in this storyline! I felt it in my bones!) Splitting pieces of yourself off to give to others because they need it more, over and over.
(And what happens when there’s nothing left?)
And then... this exchange.
What a question to ask Zashiil - one who grew up a slave surrounded by and living in pain both physical and emotional, one who clings to Jedi philosophy to save her from returning to that state, one who spent the entire first chapter of this class story in slowly growing pain and fatigue from shielding so many others against a plague seemingly without end.
Zashiil knows there’s no negotiating with something like this - it simply is, and must be dealt with head-on. Her sister, interestingly, most definitely would have said to fight back - but then, Duserra never learned that fighting back would only bring more suffering like Zashiil did; she had to fight back or she would lose her sense of self. Zashiil, though, learned to be quiet, and still, and become like stone - the immovable object to her sister’s unstoppable force. She learned to endure pain and suffering and loss by being the cliff that the waves break against, battered and assaulted but unmoving and ultimately untouchable. She stands firm, digs in her heels and refuses to be moved, and lets whatever must happen happen - and at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what she has to suffer. So long as the smallest core of her being survives it, she can rebuild from that. She’s done it before.
This is one of the rare ones where I actually tested all three dialogue options.
1:
The canon answer, partially because it’s the most realistic and partially because it’s... also the most distant. She warms up to Felix faster than most people, but still, she tries to keep her emotional distance.
2:
Sadly far too optimistic to be realistic for Zashiil.
3:
Oh Boy the angst AU possibilities from those standing orders (:
And then the next conversation is THIS???
fuckin OUCH
So... this bit is. One of those many dialogue options where I’m sure it doesn’t actually change anything story-wise, but it says a lot about your character which option you choose.
Zashiil’s first instinct looking at Nadia was to tell her to stay on the ship. She’s young, she’s inexperienced, and this is absolutely going to be dangerous. But... she’s also been the person facing the prospect of losing the person she loves most forever.
She was totally helpless to stop that from happening. She would have given anything to be able to fight back against having Duserra torn away from her. She’ll be damned if she takes that chance away from Nadia.
And she... she understands the grief and rage.
She gives an obligatory “you probably shouldn’t kill him” statement to Nadia, and notes that Nadia’s definitely being driven by anger instead of justice when Nadia tries to make that claim, but. She doesn’t actually try to stop Nadia from killing Stark. If she’d tried, she would have stopped her.
She gets needing that catharsis and revenge too, even if it’s kind of at war with the Jedi side of her that wants to be better than that.
And now I have feelings. Wonderful.
This is exactly the dynamic I want between Eidorrah and Andronikos though - two people who know what it is to be constantly under someone else's thumb and also what it is to break free and never want to look back at anything that isn't that freedom

Local hybrid has major insecurity about his heritage, someone please get this boi some therapy. Mostly he just wishes he hadn't been shoehorned into being the heir to his house, although that probably wouldn't have made his life any easier, just difficult on a different axis. He tries to look like a tough asshole Sith but is very bad at actually getting rid of his heart-of-gold problem, even if he's a fair hand at hiding it from the outside world. Someone save him
