Little Ringed Plover Charadrius dubius, a migrating monogamous ground-nesting shorebird provides a very good example of Assortative mating pattern (similarly sized individuals tend to mate with each other) according to continues character. The study carried out in Sweden shows that the mating in Little Ringed Plover is positively assortative according to the size of wings, long winged males tending to mate with the long winged female and vice versa. In the species, size differential spring migration was found to be the pivotal factor behind the assortative mating pattern. #littleringedplover #charadriusdubius #assortativemating #plover #charadriiformes #charadriidae #birds #aves #birdsofindiansubcontinent #wildfauna #waders #bestbirdshots #your_best_birds #king_birds #pocket_birds #bb_of_ig #planetbirds #birds_adored #feather_perfection #bird_brilliance #eye_spy_birds #exclusive_wildlife #ip_birds #total_birds #birdextreme #nuts_about_birds
