Chatzy Transcript: Warm And Fuzzy
Edgar "Charity, you around?" Edgar asked quietly as he peered down the hall near the Hufflepuff dorms.
Charity There was a slight thud of a pan being set down and the sounds of feet moving quickly. Charity rounded a corner and smiled when she saw Edgar. "Over here." She said, motioning him toward the kitchens.
Edgar Edgar grinned as he caught sight of her. She was wearing a colorful apron and her cheeks were a bit flushed. He hurried over to where she had set up shop and rubbed his hands together. "So, what can I do?"
Charity smiled when he hurried over. She moved a few things around making some space. All the ingredients she could ever need for anything she wanted to try. "I thought we'd start off simple with some cupcakes but with a bit of lemon in them." She said remembering how he said he liked lemon. "You can mix the flour and salt together in a bowl, while I mix together a few other ingredients in a bowl."
Edgar nodded. "Flour and salt, mixed together." he grabbed hold of a whisk and the bowl she indicated. "So why do these need to be mixed anyway? Aren't they both dry?" Edgar would never understand baking but he would certainly enjoy the fruits of it.
Charity: "They need to be together so that they can be added to my mixture." She said, taking a bowl of her own and grabbing some butter and sugar, placing them in the bowl and taking another whisk and began to beat and mix them together. "The butter and sugar that I have placed in this one have to be mixed very well to where they are fluffy. Can you reach for the eggs, please?"
Edgar "But do they need to be actually mixed?" he laughed a bit, baking was a bit absurd to him. "Well that one makes more sense and it smells wonderful." he looked around and spotted the hugs, grabbing them. "What do you want me to do with them?"
Charity "Mix them or I'll bake all these lemon cupcakes and not let you have a single one." She said, sticking her tongue out at him for a few seconds. "We're going to need four of them. I want you to crack one, then pour it into my mix and then I'll stir it in. We have to do it separately for each one."
Edgar 's mouth dropped open for a second. "You're very domineering in the kitchen. I think I like it." he teased, beginning to stir. He set his bowl down after a moment and took out one of the eggs. "Here goes." he went to crack it and it fell apart in his hand. "I'm hopeless..."
Charity smirked at him, "Currently my kitchen Bones, so have to play by my rules." A slight glint in her eye, she bumped him with her shoulder chuckling. She finished stirring the butter and sugar and moved the bowl closer to him, she couldn't help the giggle that escaped her when he broke the first egg. "It's fine, and you're not hopeless. Everyone breaks eggs. Here let me help." She said, taking another egg out and placing it in his hands. She then closed her hand around his and in one motion moved the egg against the bowl, cracking it and pulled it apart with her other hand and his. "See?"
Edgar "I do like following the rules." he countered, playing a long. "Are you laughing at me?" he faked annoyance and sniffled a bit. Edgar watched carefully as she assisted him, her hand warm on his. Though he was supposed to be learning how to crack an egg he was more focused on how she smiled at him, the bit of flour on her cheek and the butterflies accumulating in his chest.
Charity "Good, then I think you'll do just fine." She said with a grin, "Me? Laughing at you? No, of course not." She batted her eyes and tried to look innocent. His hand was bigger than hers but she had managed to crack an egg with his hand just fine. After cracking it she looked up at him, wondering if he had been paying attention at all. "Now, you going to try again or make me crack all these eggs on my own?" She let go of his hand taking the bowl once more and mixing in the first egg.
Edgar "I hope so." he smiled. "Of course not, that isn't possible, no." he couldn't help but laugh, she looked adorable. Edgar looked at the egg quickly, realizing she had caught him staring. "No, I'll try again." he took an egg and hit the bowl, a bit too much force behind it but definitely better than the first time.
Charity "I know so. Exactly, why ever would I do such a thing?" She felt a small blush at the thought of him staring at her but luckily there was already some flush to her cheeks to mask it. "Then pour it into the bowl." She said, afterward mixing it again.
Edgar did as he was told, pouring it into the bowl. Being with Charity was easy, like breathing, which he found difficult to do around her recently. Edgar had thought perhaps there was something wrong with him. after being single for years and then the mess with Emmeline he couldn't help but think he was doing something, or a lot of things, terribly wrong. But Charity pushed all those thoughts away. She had fancied him for some time, even when he had been a complete arse to her. She redeemed him and he would never be able to figure out why she cared for him so much.
Charity watched as he poured the egg in. He was getting better at it and soon he'd be a pro at cracking eggs and pouring them into bowls. She found herself smiling as she looked at him. He was still standing close to her and even through the smells of the kitchen she could smell his scent. She wasn't sure if it was cologne or if it was just him but she liked it. "Okay just one more egg and then I can add in the vanilla extract and lemon zest."
Edgar grinned at her, watching her stir her own bowl. He got lost in his thoughts again when a splashing sound brought him back to reality. Somehow he'd managed to spill some of the batter onto his arm and, due to proximity, all over charity. "Oh!" he panicked, moving to set the bowl on the table but missing and causing it to fall to the floor, splattering them both with the remaining batter.
Charity was mixing, her hand moving in circular motions when she felt the wetness of the batter suddenly on her. She gasped barely setting her own bowl down carefully and looking down at the batter that was now over much of her apron and parts of her pants. She had made messes before, it came with learning how to bake, but she had never had this much batter on her before. A second wave of batter hit her when he dropped the bowl and she moved her fingers to wipe some of it off her face.
Edgar "Charity..I am so sorry..." Edgar didn't know what to do. There was batter everywhere, on him and on her and the corner they were in. He felt so guilty.
Charity moved her hands down her apron a bit to push some of the batter off into the floor. She was thankful there weren't an house elves around they would be freaking out and wanting to clean everything and probably ban them both from the kitchen for a while. The house elves didn't like messes. She turned away from his slightly, "No no it's fine. Really." She mumbled, before taking a wad of flour in her hands and turning in one motion and throwing it at him with a giggle.
Edgar Edgar was moving in slow motion, not quite sure where to start or how to clean it up. His mind was all fuddled and he had forgotten he had a wand and that cleaning wasn't an issue. But before he managed to pull his wand out he was assaulted by a face full of flour. "Charity Burbage, you rat." he said quietly. First the snow and now this? Edgar grabbed an egg from the counter, hiding it from her view. "i am so glad you taught me how to break eggs though, but I think I have a better way to do it." He turned and broke it over her head, smearing it into her hair with a grin. "I hear it's good for the roots.."
Charity laughed, covering her mouth with her hand. She didn't care so much that he had messed things up and made a complete mess and getting it on her. She didn't care if they ended up not being able to actually bake anything, a food fight was something she could not let get away. "Not afraid of a little flour, are we?" She said with a grin. She was shocked when he broke the egg over her hair, making her blonde locks sticky and gooey. "Seriously?" She said before grabbing a pile of batter and reaching up and throwing it into his hair.
Edgar hands were still in charity's hair when she dumped the batter on him. "Hey, maybe now I'll smell like you." he laughed as the batter dripped down his forehead.
Charity laughed at his comment, "Never, my smell is one of a kind. You can only get close but never exact." She said mushing the batter around in his hair, looking up at him.
Edgar smiled, it was like she was giving him a head massage. Edgar leaned in, his hands still tangled in her eggy hair and planted a soft kiss on her lips. He couldn't help it anymore, they were standing so close and already touching, why should he restrain himself?
Charity After making sure his hair was full of batter, her hands moved down to the collar of his shirt. His fingers were still twined in her blonde locks, she looked down for a split second before looking back up and noticing the closeness of his face to hers and the softness of his lips as they pressed against her. It was the second time he had kissed her, the first in the snow. Back then it had been a simple chaste kiss that left butterflies in her stomach for days upon days. She kissed him back and she had to admit that she wanted more than just a simple and sweet kiss. She wanted more.
Edgar pulled back, taking a deep breath. He looked into her eyes, his hands working their way deeper into her hair. It was almost as if he were asking permission to go further. His feelings for Charity had developed faster than he thought possible and while these soft kisses made the butterflies in his chest flutter he wanted more, he wanted to really kiss her, to feel the passion he knew was there. "Charity..." he whispered, a hand moving down to her waist.
Charity bit her lip slightly as he pulled back. The butterflies in her stomach were running rampant. She didn't really understand how the simplest of kisses and how being around him could affect her like this, but he did and she was sure that meant something. These feelings she had for him, they had kind of snuck up on her and she couldn't deny them. Her hands rested on the back of his neck, her arms enclosed around it. Her heart was beating loudly in her ears when she heard him whisper her name. "Yes, Edgar." She said just as quietly, holding onto him tightly.
Edgar took her words as a blessing, leaning into her and pressing his lips to hers again. More insistent this time, less cautious, Edgar kissed her. He let go, losing himself in the kiss. His senses were full to the brim with Charity, flooded with her. The smell of her hair and the eggs and the sugar, how soft her skin was and how she held onto him. It was what had been missing before. Edgar felt like he fit with Charity, everything just slid into place and before he knew it he was falling for her. But maybe the falling wasn't so bad after all.
Charity felt his lips on hers again. But this time the kiss was something more, it was more than the simple and chaste kisses they had shared before. It took the butterflies in her stomach and turned them from their normal flight to that of a tornado in her stomach. There was nothing else in her mind but the feeling of his lips, his arms around her and how good it felt to finally and truly kiss him. Everything, every little feeling she had for him made sense. She kissed him back with a bit more force, pulling him close to her and getting lost in him. The sky could have been falling outside and she wouldn't have noticed nor cared.
Edgar It was lucky for them that everyone was out at Hogsmeade, no chance for them to be interrupted or walked in on. Even the House Elves had managed to busy themselves elsewhere. For once Edgar felt like he had privacy, like this moment belonged to them and only them. Edgar placed one of his hands against the stone behind Charity, not having remembered backing into it in the first place. The other hand was on her cheek, soft and sticky and powdery from the various substances they were covered in. Would they ever share a clean kiss he wondered. After the intense buildup of this one Edgar relaxed, slowed down and began to pull away.
Charity If anyone walked in them, she had no doubt the shade of pink her cheeks would have turned, but with everyone excited to escape the castle to Hogsmeade, being walked in on was the last thing she expected. And she was thankful for the privacy and the quiet, it was often hard to find a nice quiet place away from everyone else but there was those few moments where it could be found. Charity felt the stone of the wall behind her and couldn't remembering him pushing her back in the first place but she didn't mind. Cleaning up after this was going to be a challenge, but that could be saved for later. As he pulled away she found herself at a loss for words, her breaths shallow and she had to clear her throat to find any semblance of her voice. "Wow," was the only words she could find her clouded mind.
Edgar leaned his forehead against hers, unwilling to pull away completely. A smile crossed his very pink lips when she spoke. It was odd and yet comforting how quickly they had come together. Sure, Charity had fancied him for what seemed like awhile, maybe even as long as he'd fancied Emmeline. How strange it was that he'd never thought of her that way, this way, until now. What he needed had been staring him in the face and he hadn't seen it before. Edgar kicked himself for all the wasted time. But now it seemed she was his and at that moment something in him shifted, he was hers too. "charity.." he was at a loss for words, again. Finally he pulled back just enough to look at her properly, to gaze into those big blue eyes of hers. "This is going to sound really idiotic and cliched but." he grinned, biting his lower lip and taking her soft, warm hands in his. "Will you go steady with me?"
Charity smiled softly as he leaned his head against hers. Their noses brushing every few seconds as they stood there. They both smelled like batter and sugar, it was sweet but she couldn't deny she still smelled that scent that was him. Before this she hadn't much experience with kissing or relationships or anything of the sort, it was something new and exciting. For a time she thought she would have this crush on him, that no matter what she did it wouldn't amount to anything and in the end, hopefully one day her feelings would have faded but that was before these moments, before he showed her just how felt too and now that she had a taste of what it was like to be with him, well being alone seemed like the last thing she wanted. She looked up at him when he moved his head, hearing her name on his voice. Her fingers curled around his as he took her hands in his. And when she heard the question she almost wanted to pinch herself to see if she was truly awake and that this was not a dream. She grinned and nodded, "Yes Edgar, I'll go steady with you."
Edgar 's heart beat fast in his chest in the time it took her to answer. It might have been a second, it might have been a lifetime but Edgar knew he would have waited forever to hear her say yes. Charity was a breath of fresh air after everything that had happened in the last few months. Finally it felt like something was going right, that this was where he was meant to be. And suddenly he had a whole new reason to fight. There was a future here with Charity, he could feel it and he would do everything he could to make it true. A laugh erupted from him and he kissed her again.
Charity had been in a rut during the last few months. People had noticed it, how she hadn't been her usual bright self. Many of them had questioned, some of them she had told while others she had just said it was schoolwork or stress. But now, she could feel the rut slipping away. Things were going to be better from now on and she found she could get back to the girl she was again. It was good to have that weight of her shoulders and to feel good again. And now she had something new and exciting in her life, a relationship with a guy she had a lot of feelings for, a guy she knew would treat her right. And as he kissed her, she pulled him close, glad he was finally hers.
I was praying that you and me might end up together
Snowball Fight
Edgar Edgar shoved his books into his bag along with her papers, grabbing her hand and pulling her toward the door. "We were just leaving Madam Pince!" he called back with a smile, practically sprinting down the hallway away from her evil throat clearing.
Charity The look Madam Pince was giving them looked like it could kill. The way her eyes stared at you made you want to flee. Charity helped him shove the books, paper, and quills away before following him as he pulled her out of the library. "We're sorry for the disturbance." She yelled back before they were gone.
Edgar Edgar dissolved into laughter once they were clear of the library wing. "I am so sorry, I've never been kicked out of the library before." he had to stop, catch his breath. "Here." He opened his bag, trying to separate her things from his.
Charity breathed out, trying to catch her breath from the mix of laughter and running they had just done. "I think that's a first for me too. She's probably going to monitor us next time either of us are in there." She chuckled, "Thanks." She said, grabbing her books from him.
Edgar "I think you're a bad influence Charity, all that giggling.." he teased. "She'll be like a hawk over our shoulder next time for sure." he closed up his bag, shouldering it once more. "Well, now that we're out do you want to go for a walk? It's sort of nice out today, I have an extra scarf in my bag if you need it."
Charity "I know, when I start laughing, it becomes contagious and you can't escape." She said with a grin, "I think I'll avoid the library for a few weeks, hopefully it'll blow over and someone else will make her angry by then." She shifted the books in her hands to a comfortable position. "Sure, I wouldn't mind. I might just need it, it's pretty cold outside. Thanks."
Edgar "So it's a trap? Not a terribly awful one to be caught in though." he returned her grin. "Yes, you could always study in your common room, or mine. I mean Ravenclaw tower has it's own library so it's a good substitute. " Edgar always had trouble choosing whether to just return to the common room or go to the library. "Yeah sure, only it's a Ravenclaw one, I hope you don't mind." He reached into his bag and pulled out the blue and bronze scarf, moving in front of her so he could drape it around her neck without her having to set her books down.
Charity "Mhmm, one I use to my advantage, it's helps especially when I want to cheer someone up." Sometimes a laugh was all someone needed to feel better. "The Hufflepuff Common room is nice and warm so it's a good place to stay warm but I might take you up on the Ravenclaw common room sometime. I don't, just don't let Amos see me wearing it, he might think I've converted and get all upset." She smiled as at him as he draped it around her neck, it was a very sweet thing to do.
Edgar "You're very good at it." Charity just had a way about her, simply being around her could cheer you up. "I'll give you the warm part, but at least we have fireplaces to compensate. Anytime, just send me an owl. I'll protect you from Amos, don't you worry. Besides, you look good in blue. I'll have to lend you more of my clothes, if only to make Amos angry." he chuckled, giving her a once over before resuming his position by her side.
Charity "I try to be. I like cheering people up." It was just the way she was. She didn't like to anyone she cared about unhappy or grumpy and if she could help make their day brighter she would. "The Hufflepuff Common room is just warm and inviting in general and not too far from the kitchens. I'll make sure to. You and Selene both, I know I'll be safe. I do? Thank you. I like purple too. Definitely, though most of them are probably going to be big on me." She laughed as they started to walk out of the hallway towards outside.
Edgar "You don't even need to try Charity, you're just naturally amazing." he had meant to say something else and blushed. "Ah yes, the proximity to the kitchens is the real draw. It would make sneaking out for a midnight snack so much easier. If I were Amos I would definitely be afraid of Selene. Yes, you do, it brings out your eyes." he chuckled a little nervously, though it was true. "I don't think I own any purple unfortunately but I'll keep that in mind. Don't girls like that, wearing their boyfriend's sweaters? Not that I'm...not that we..." he bit his lip, turning away from her as he flushed bright red. Maybe he could blame the color in his cheeks on the cold breeze that met them as they got outside.
Charity: "I... thank you Edgar." She looked down for a few seconds, smiling and moving a piece of her blonde hair behind her ear. "It makes it so easy to satisfy a late night craving and if you get the house elves to like you, they're more than willing to whip something up for you and they'll do it fast too. It helps with last minute essays and homework. I think he partially is, she has a way with him and he can't say no to her. Guess I'll be wearing more blue then." She smiled, "It's probably my favorite color next to my house colors and blue. I think so? I mean, I don't really now considering I haven't.. really dated anyone." She said slightly embarrassed. She wasn't used to dating at all in particular.
Edgar "You're welcome." he smiled at her, though he hadn't meant to say it he could tell she liked it and so how could he regret it? "I wish I had that in my life, some snacks would have made my late night cram sessions so much more enjoyable. I've noticed that, the two of them. Do you think they might end up a couple or is it just a flirtation? I think I'd like that." and he would. "So yellow is your absolute favorite, then blue and then purple...is that right?" he sniffled a bit, adjusting to the change in temperature. "Wait, really?" Edgar wasn't aware Charity hadn't dated before. She was just, he couldn't understand why no one would ask her out at least. But then Edgar wasn't judging, he had only ever really dated Emmeline and he mucked that one up something awful.
Charity "They help greatly, getting some cookies, muffins, or brownies with a nice cup of hot chocolate or tea. They help get through the last bit of studying or essays. They've always been close, especially since they both play Quidditch, but I'm not sure if something would come of it or not. I want them both to be happy and if it does work out for them, then I'd be glad." She shook her head, "Yellow and purple are pretty equal then blue." The air outside was cold against her face and it brought color to her cheeks. She shrugged, "Umm. Yeah." She wasn't sure how to exactly explain it, "It's just that I've never really bothered to or didn't care much and the few who may have asked before I just wasn't interested in. I wasn't concerned about dating as some people were. So I'm still naive and new about it." It was one of the reasons her liking of Edgar both excited and frightened her.
Edgar "I'm feeling very envious right about now. I'd have to trudge down several flights of stairs through a damp and cold castle in the middle of the night just for a cup of tea. And then answer another riddle to get back in. Woe is me. I can see it, them as a couple. I have the feeling Selene would mellow Amos out, because he can be very intense." he shuddered, recalling witnessing a Hufflepuff practice once with Amos yelling at everyone. "Okay, I've got it now, making a mental note." he grinned, he would remember. It was important information during gift giving season. Edgar nodded "No, I get it. I felt the same way. I mean, I had a crush on one girl for four years before I managed to ask her out. And then the whole thing was sort of a disaster. I think if you're curious I'm not the best person to ask."
Charity "I think a lot of people in the other house's feel the same way. Maybe it's why a lot of us Hufflepuff's love to eat. We're so close to the kitchens and it's easy for us to get something without getting in trouble or caught. Luckily the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room isn't too complicated. He gets really into Quidditch and being the captain. But it seems to be working out great for the Hufflepuff team. Selene's a sweetheart and they'd be great." She remembered watching them practice from time to time and how tired they all seemed after. "Dating just wasn't the much of a priority and I didn't want to date anyone unless I really felt something for them. It wouldn't to myself or the other person if I didn't feel something for them as well. I don't think many of girl friends have much in the way of dating either."
Edgar "Yes, convenience probably has a lot to do with it. Yes, luckily." Sometimes all Edgar wanted to do was get into his common room and collapse into an armchair. But no, he had to answer a riddle, make his fried brain work. "I would agree with you but the last match wasn't really one for anybody to be proud of." Edgar hadn't played in that game and he counted himself lucky for it. "I definitely didn't think it was a priority, I was much more focused on my school work. But now, I guess it isn't so bad to try new things, especially ones that scare you."
Charity "If you ever want, you could also come spend time in the Hufflepuff common room, especially on days when it's really cold and the rest of the castle is too." No matter the temperature outside, the common room was always warm and inviting and she loved it. "The last two matches to be honest. I don't know what's gotten into the teams this year, can't have a match without someone getting hurt or someone playing dirty. Where did this tension come from?" At least three or four members of Hufflepuff had been hurt during the game and apparently Lucy had gone crazy with anger at the end. "I was focused on schoolwork partially and my friends I guess. I agree, sometimes you have to go out of your comfort zone and take a chance or you'll never know what might happen." She brought her hands to her mouth, blowing on them slightly.
Edgar "I will have to take you up on that, honestly Ravenclaw gets freezing sometimes. It's why I own more jumpers than necessary. Playing dirty was always part of it but you're right, it's gotten worse. I really hope the next game is civil, no matter who is playing. The tension probably came from the war to be blunt about it." Edgar didn't like to talk about it but sometimes it was important to remind people what was going on outside the halls of Hogwarts. Not that Charity needed reminding. "Are you cold? Here, let me." he put his hands on her arms, rubbing them slightly to warm her up.
Charity "Feel free to anytime. Plenty of room and warmth in the Hufflepuff common room. There's always been a little bit of dirty play in the game, it's just what happens when people really want to win, but there have been more injuries than usual and people getting suspended from next games. As much as the professors don't want us to worry about the war, as much as they want to shield us from it, we still know about it, and it had infiltrated the walls of the castle. It just can't be ignored anymore, ya know?" With the news of the fighting in Europe and the tension in the castle of it, the increased homework to keep them busy, and the new rules set up by Dumbledore, you couldn't forget about it. "Yeah, a little bit. Don't want to lose my fingers." She smiled when he put his hands on hers to warm them up, she knew of his kindness but it was still a pleasant surprise every time he showed it to her.
Edgar "I was there earlier, helping Hestia look for her shoes and deal with her hangover. I was a bit surprised, I never took her as the party type. Did you attend the festivities?" Edgar nodded along with her, he felt the same way. "There is a difference between shielding and hiding though. I think it's better they prepare us for it. In a few months I'll be out there, on the front lines, and I feel unprepared for the reality of it all." Edgar would be lying if he said he wasn't scared. "I didn't realize it would be this cold today, what with the sun shining and all. WE can go back in if you want?"
Charity "Hes? Yeah, normally she isn't. She was always more quiet and studious than her sister Gwen. I guess she just wanted to have some fun and knowing everyone else, there had to be plenty of alcohol. Someone probably spiked it too." She didn't like thinking about the war, it was easier to hide from it and push it away, but her friends were involved and they were the reason she couldn't forget. "Some of them don't want to though. They think they'd protect us by keeping us from it. Which could hurt us in the end. You're going to be in the fighting?" She was surprised, she hadn't realized Edgar was planning on being a part of it. A part of her was scared for her friends involved, for James, Marlene, Doe, and especially him. Someone had to fight, but there was the possibility of losing them and she didn't like that. " Charity "We can if you want. I don't mind."
Edgar "Yes, Hestia Jones, the one and only. Well Gwen is....Gwen. She said she didn't know it was spiked and I definitely believe her." Edgar couldn't imagine a scenario where Hestia would willingly get into trouble. " I understand where they are coming from I just don't agree with it." Edgar hesitated "Yes. It's a decision I've been going back and forth over for awhile but..I owe it to my family and friends. I'm capable and I need to protect people, to help them. That's why I've decided, I'm going to fight." Edgar chewed his lip, he hated to worry her but it would be hypocritical for him to hide it from her. "I don't mind, but I don't want you to get sick or anything."
Charity "Gwen is a firecracker, but we love her all the same. I doubt anyone would have been told that the alcohol was spiked. I think they drank so much they're having a hard time remembering what they did. I didn't attend though. Had other things to do." She was kind of glad she didn't, she didn't like not remembering something after a night of drinking. "A lot of people feel that way too. No matter how hard the professors try, we'll still know. We'll still find out." She nodded, "That's a noble reason to fight Edgar. And if it's what you want to do and feel like you need to do, do it. Just.. just be careful." She was worried about all them, about the possibility of not coming back one day. While she was still another year at Hogwarts, they would be off fighting and in danger. "Hey, I'm made of stronger stuff, a little cold won't hurt me." She said with a smile, trying to bring the mood back up.
Edgar "Firecracker, that is a perfect description. I think it's safe to assume that the punch is spiked at every party in this castle. Hes said she couldn't remember, but that could be a good old hangover. Other things? How curious. Let me guess, you were baking all night." he laughed, Charity was always baking, but she smelled like frosting so he wasn't complaining. "It's impossible to keep secrets in the castle, no matter who you are apparently." Edgar got letters from home all the time, so did his friends. Nothing was secret. "I'll do my best to be careful. I just hope this is all over soon, it's not exactly what I pictured for my life." he admitted. Edgar didn't want to be an Auror, not originally. But circumstances as they were he had no choice. He was skilled and needed and he wasn't going to say no when his friends needed his help. "That's right, Charity Burbage: Fierce hippogriff fighter and cold annihilator."
Charity "One time Gwen and I joked about the professors taking away candy and turning it into a war over candy. Every party is filled to the brim with alcohol and often bad choices. Could be, get enough over her limit and it could have messed with her short-term memory. I'll have you know, I was only baking for half the night." After making up with Edgar, it seemed her ability to bake had returned and she had went a little overboard, so much so that after she was tired and ended up passing out in her dorm, sleeping the rest of the night. "No, with the way owls are always coming in with news, the way the alumni return almost every weekend." She hopped this war didn't last long after they all graduated, that the casualties were minimum. She couldn't imagine losing all her friends. "It's your choice. Being careful is all I can ask." She respected his choice and decision and didn't wish to sway or persuade him from it. "And master baker. Probably best in all of Great Britain." She said with a grin.
Edgar "I hope it was just a joke, the kids would definitely riot. Exactly, that's why from now on I will be doing my best to avoid them. She doesn't normally drink so her limit is probably pretty low. But she doesn't seem to worse for wear. Only half the night, you're doing so well." He joked, but he'd love to be privy to the fruits of her labor. "Exactly." Edgar would be glad when it was all over, he'd be even happier if it was done before Amelia left school. The shorter it was the less people would suffer. "I will, I promise." he said sincerely. "Certainly the best in all of Hogwarts at the very least."
Edgar "Oh definitely. Parties are like a a false pretense now. They're meant to be celebrations but there is always some drama. Only partially, but a good partially.Oh please don't pout." he frowned, mirroring her pout. "Competition? In baking? I can't imagine that." Who else had ever come close to Charity in that field?
Edgar: Edgar was hit suddenly by snow. He was stunned for a good long moment before realizing she had thrown a snowball at him. "Charity!" But he was laughing, ducking for cover and making one of his own before he knew it
Charity "I can't disagree with you there. Hey, you're not my boss, I'll pout if I want to, and still look cute doing it." She said forcing her small pout even more. "Mhmm, had a fourth year last year try and say they were better, I proved them wrong." A simple baking contest with random students as judges, each student judge had chose her baking over the fourth years. The fourth year had cried and ran away. Charity was at least kind enough to teach her a few pointers after and things were smoothed out. "What? You need to keep your wits sharp Edgar. I think I really stunned you." She said with a laugh, peeking out from the tree, before throwing another snowball in his direction.
Edgar "Yes, you do look cute." he conceded, bowing out. "How did I miss this? And who would think to challenge you anyway?" He couldn't imagine it. Edgar ducked behind a small tower of snow, his hiding place was really awful. But he stood and chucked a small snowball in her direction. "Catch!" He shouted, grinning like a kid.
Charity shrugged, "I don't know. I don't remember the exact day but I think a lot of people knew about it. You must have been busy?" A lot people had supported her and to them it was no surprise that they had won. She moved from tree to tree, narrowly ducking at his throw. "Missed me! You're gonna have to do better than that!"
Edgar Edgar sprinted for a tree, hiding himself behind it best he could. "I'm gonna get you Charity Burbage!" He called, rolling a larger snowball.
Charity carefully moved herself closer to Edgar, she sprinted to a small tree behind him. Getting close and throwing a large snow ball right at his head. "I don't think so Edgar Bones!"
Edgar ducked just in time, catching Charity around her waist and spinning her around. "Not a chance Charity!"
Charity failed to move at the last second and he latched onto her waist. She laughed while spinned her around. "Hey! Okay I'm getting.. dizzy." She said with a few laughs in between, losing her balance at the last second and falling against him.
Edgar fell backward into the snow when Charity lost her balance but he couldn't stop laughing. "I haven't had that much fun in months!" he cried happily.
Charity as he fell backward onto the snow, Charity fell on top of him, her blonde curls flopping. She laughed, "Much better than an essay on Transfiguration, right?"
Edgar "Much better." he agreed, staring at her. There was snow in her blonde curls and even though the cold should be seeping through his coat he felt warm all over.
Charity stared at him. She soon realized how close they were, her lying practically on top of him. His brown lying against the cold snow. And she was lucky the cold temperature already brought a color to her cheeks, because she was pretty sure she was blushing right now.
Edgar "Charity I..." He slipped his hand onto her cheek, she looked like some kind of snow angel.
Charity: started to bite her lip while looking at him. She could feel her heart beating in her chest when he put his hand on her cheek. She didn't know what to say, what to do. And though she really didn't feel the cold, she felt frozen.
Edgar had made many mistakes with Emmeline, kissing her when she didn't want it. But right now he was pretty sure Charity wasn't going to hit him or hate him. So tentatively, very tentatively, he inched closer to her lips. His eyes closed and his other hand made it's way to the small of her back.
Charity couldn't help the butterflies she felt in her stomach as he looked at her. She wasn't used to someone's eyes looking at her like that. It was completely new. She placed her hands on his chest, felt his other hand move to her back and she noticed the proximity of his head move closer to hers. Part of her mind told her to run, the other told her to stay. This was outside her usual comfort zone but she had to admit she liked it. So she helped, inched her face closer to his until their lips finally met in a kiss.
Edgar kissed her softly, tenderly and for only a few seconds. The kiss was sweet and chaste and there were definitely butterflies in his chest.
Charity kissed Edgar back just as softly. It small, simple, and sweet kiss. But it still made all the butterflies in her stomach tumble around and her heartbeat continue to thud in her ears.
Edgar "We should go back up to the castle." he whispered, smiling and brushing her hair behind her ear.
Charity had to clear her throat to speak. Trying to find her voice again. "Yeah, unless we want to turn into icicles out here." She said just as quietly but a smile on her face.
Edgar "I definitely don't want that." but also didn't want to move, to bring this moment to an end. It had to end sometime though and a shiver ran down Edgar's spine.
