Aethiopica

The Aethiopica (also known as The Ethiopian Story or Theagenes and Chariclea) is the longest surviving ancient Greek novel. Penned by the Syrian author Heliodorus of Emesa - likely in the 3rd or 4th century CE - it is a foundational text of the ancient romance genre that deeply influenced later European literature.

Ancient people: Memnon is dark-skinned despite the fact that his mother is a greek goddess and his father a trojan man purely because he was born in Aethiopia, despite the fact that this is the equivalent of giving birth to your child during a vacantion trip.

Also ancient people: Despite of being the princess of Aethiopia and having aethiopian parents, Chariclea is white because her mother was staring at a painting of a white Andromeda while her husband was banging her.

Hey i'm not sure if this is true but i saw a post talking about an ancient novel called Aethiopica (or Theagenes and Chariclea) written by Heliodorus wich talks about a king and queen of Aethiopia wich are black but they had a white daughter, and when she asks why the father says because at the moment of conception he was looking at a painting of Andromeda where she was portrayed as white. I honestly hope its not true cause what the heck is this... 😭
