Here’s one that goes way back to the days when I played around with thin wood! 12 years ago I made this table as an auction donation for the Tacoma School of the Arts. I was embarking on a new business venture and just beginning to get the Madera name out. It was the first of countless charitable projects we have crafted since. One of the great things I like best about making pieces for charity is you can push the design a bit and try out new ideas. In this piece it was the split bent laminated legs! So a few weeks ago I was contacted by the woman who had purchased this table at that auction a dozen years ago. It no longer fit into their decor, they were downsizing and she offered to give it back to me. Really?!? It was like meeting up with an old friend. And for one short moment I thought about reselling it but @ubergeek_mamabear put the kabash on that! Those of you who know me best will see the irony in all this. The rest of you will get it in a week or so. #custommade #customfurniture #customwoodworking #handmade #furnituredesign #furniture #bespoke #interiordesign #entrytable #sofatable #veneering #marquetry #inlays #bentlamination #vacuumbag #bubinga #pearwood #zebrano #forthekids #charitablewoodworking #philanthropicwoodworking #madeintacoma #madeinwa #creatingfineartforliving (at Madera Fine Decorative Furnishings)
