WHY ARE PEOPLE TO CRUEL TO HENRY-

He’s been through heavy neglect, and that was until he was around 14 I think, till his father died. And that affected him since as said in his backstory (These are Direct Doggo’s words Not mine BTW!!)
‘While Henry was initially relieved to finally have the house to himself, he never quite felt that to be the case. The place always felt… inhabited to him. Henry left to join the army, knowing they’d find a role for him, and that it’d get him away from the house and life that now felt like a prison more than ever.’
It CLEARLY affected him. He felt trapped. He felt like his home was never home because it never even seemed like it. Always being ignored, paying bills (by the seems of it) and also having to frequently argue with a unloving father that drank (And probably smoked if he had multiple bad habits.)
And then later, he went to the war and decided to try and help the other side or something like that, once realising ‘people behind enemy lines were dying’. He tried to help by killing and harming others ahaha-
Not very good but can’t say somebody taught him morals. And then he developed a Machiavellian way of seeing the world. He will continue to see for what ever benefits him and others is good. Its not wrong. Henry doesn’t even know what he is doing is wrong. I’ve even asked a psychologist if Machiavellians know what they are doing is wrong and they said ‘No, they don’t know what they are doing is wrong’. And, after the war, it mentions Henry ‘never stopped seeing those faces in his dreams’ (Who’s faces? I don’t know). He had nightmares from working there. Something happened.
Henry later on got married and lost both his kid and wife. And then his experiments started after hearing two voices in an old car in the radio. Voices he immediately recognised (Some people like I think that those voices were his Wife’s and Son’s voice). And then years later after that, in the tapes he didn’t want to be anyones father figure (Mostly Dave’s father figure) for some obvious reasons like Dave only being a monster and his test subject. But then he was upset about what Dave said while Henry listened in. He was ‘uncomfortable’. Kinda brings me to the thought Henry missed his son and can’t handle being someones father figure again, don’t you think?
I bet you he has PTSD, but thats just a slight headcanon for now
I know he literally abused and hurt many people, but I’m just making a point
