🎬 The End of the F****** World Genre: Dark comedy/drama Rating: 3.5/5 Background: This TV series (british) is adapted from a graphic novel by Charles Forsman. Premise: James is a 17-year-old who believes he is a psychopath. He kills animals as a hobby, but grows bored of the practice. He decides he wants to try killing a human. He settles on Alyssa, a mouthy, rebellious 17-year-old classmate with issues of her own. She proposes they run away together, hoping for an adventure away from her turbulent home-life, and James agrees with the intention of finding an opportunity to kill her. They embark on a road trip across England, and begin to develop a relationship after a series of mishaps. Review: The series was dominated by moody hues and aesthetics and I was not sure whether it's because of the story which demanded a dark undertone setting or the fact that it was set on the British isles. Anyway, I loved the cinematography aspects that lifted the screenplay and merged well with the character's emotions. The soundtracks were beautifully coordinated. It aided in bringing out the emotions on the screen when the respective actors have failed at it. Having said that, the actors weren't particularly bad nor exceptional but gave convincing performances. Jessica barden as Alyssa delivered perfectly timed sass which sometimes were a hit and rarely a miss. The screenplay had a few minor flaws with sudden and bumpy character developments. This series has got 8 episodes, each of 20 min duration which was aptly paced and the finale was sort of a cliffhanger, if you'd watched the entire series closely, you should be knowing few answers for yourself.
