The “Los Angeles Jet Age Terminal Construction Project”, 1961⠀ Paul R. Williams (pictured), with Welton Becket and Pereira & Luckman. (Becket designed a number of spots, including Brown Marble in SF, Pereira is responsible for designs at USC and UC Irvine, but more on those later)⠀ ⠀ This project formed the basis for the LAX that we know today, including the space age, or “Googie” Theme Building, illustrated by the hand of Paul R. Williams. This design followed the much more aspirational original plan for the airport expansion, also by Pereira and Luckman, which included a single centralized terminal under a glass dome that never materialized, likely for cost reasons (final image).⠀ ⠀ #losangelesarchitecture #paulrwilliams #williampereira #charlesluckman #lax (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CI1IsDcFxoG/?igshid=1xyoylws2kvee
