Physical Description:
Charleston has always thought of himself as rather average – with a tall, slim frame, dark hair usually tousled slightly, and nondescript, if vaguely angular, features, he’s never thought of himself as anything besides. He dresses accordingly, and as such, his sense of fashion is comfortable yet bland. He prefers long sleeve shirts that fit slightly big on him, which always manage to obfuscate his slim build, but Charleston usually has no such concerns himself.

History:
Having grown up in a large, extensive family, Agent Charleston was always used to a certain degree of anonymity. As a child, he often found himself passed over for things due to a combination of his own quiet nature and his siblings’ more flamboyant personalities, and it wasn’t until college that he hit his stride. Charleston had always performed well in school, but math courses were what he always excelled in, and during his first couple of years at college, he quickly discovered this. One thing led to another, and he graduated a semester early with a double major in math and computer sciences. A professor recommended him for graduate school, and Charleston went back and quickly earned two more degrees, this time focusing specifically on cryptography. Charleston worked for the federal government for a time before his feats caught the attention of the director, and when offered the job, enlisted with hardly a second thought.
Personality:
Charleston is an interesting agent with a personality perhaps more superficially inclined to accounting or record keeping than fighting. The first thing many notice about the young agent is his characteristic silence – while Charleston is always polite and more or less friendly to his comrades, he doesn’t go out of his way to socialize and can often be found by himself during his free time. When speaking with others in any depth, though, it becomes clear that socialization makes him uncomfortable and timid, and this perhaps makes him a bit of an easy target for others. Wishing to avoid confrontation, Charleston simply avoids these situations if at all possible.
As one of the youngest members of the team, Charleston feels he has to work extra hard to prove himself, and he makes sure to constantly practice his analytic skills and keep his knowledge up to date. During day to day life, he allows himself a set amount of time in order to perform cryptographic training exercises in addition to the standard, basic practices assigned to everyone. In stressful situations where he is allowed to use these skills, Charleston comes into his own slightly and is able to become more assertive and focused.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Charleston is very smart and adaptable – he knows what to do with himself both on and off the battlefield. This quality is what made him appealing to the program in the first place.
+ Although not specifically assigned an A.I., he has displayed an aptitude and willingness for working with them. His logical thought process lends itself to an understanding of A.I. beings, and Charleston often finds himself working with them outside the battlefield.
- Charleston is not as proficient in combat as the other agents, partially due to his new status within the squad. He’s capable at a basic level, but in addition to the mandatory training exercises assigned to everyone, he is also required to participate in supplemental combat simulations.
- His socialization skills are lacking, although he does make a pointed effort to be polite when engaged in conversation. He often remains silent because he is afraid to say something offensive, rude, or presumptuous.

The scar on his jaw came about when one of his older brothers pushed him down the stairs when Charleston was only 12.
Prefers to work with smaller weapons, and at times has the potential to be half decent with sidearms.
Speaks with a stutter that has the potential to either get slightly better or moderately worse depending on his comfort level – it can be an accurate gauge of his state of mind
Headcanons:
- He’s secretly afraid of field work ever since Agent Carson’s death; Charleston is afraid he could very easily be next, and this hesitance results in him taking very little risk within the missions themselves.
- Charleston has a sweet tooth, will warm up more easily to anyone who offers him candy, and has a small stash that he keeps hidden (amassed from trading with the other agents).
- He’s never felt particularly close to his family, a fact which has always made him uncomfortable. Although he never disliked them by any means (with the exception of one brother), Charleston never felt like he had the connection with his family that others had.
- Charleston is neither closeted nor particularly open about it, but he does prefer men over women romantically. He’s never had any serious, long lasting relationships, however, for the same reason he finds it difficult to make friends.
- He becomes very uncomfortable when people mention or draw attention to his stuttering and general demeanor, as he was bullied when he was young about his speech habits. The habit was worse back then, and speech therapy managed to bring him where he is today, though Charleston still speaks with a noticeable stutter.
- During his free time, Charleston enjoys puzzles and puzzle games such as crosswords, sudokus, and brainteasers. He’s actually quite good at them, and goes through books relatively quickly. Before being recruited, he also enjoyed playing his guitar, although he couldn’t bring it with him – he does miss making music, as it was a great stress-reliever for him. He hardly, if ever, let people listen, though.
