but do you have any thoughts on Percy and beckendorf or the Hephaestus cabin in general in relation,
like I saw the link Hephaestus - quest - volcano - lava - scars - burn - metal - cabin 9 - beckendorf and immidatly decided that the dynamic would be my new obsession
ykw...i never really think abt the percy-hephaestus dynamic that deeply LMAO but i've always looooooooved percy and beckendorf's friendship and dynamic.
like we see in som that beckendorf was one of the only campers nice to tyson bc hephaestus works with cyclopses so beckendorf welcomed tyson without blinking at the fact that he's a "monster" and there's something soooooo special abt that to me.
like percy is arguing with all these people to defend tyson despite also being ashamed and embarrassed then here comes beckendorf who is just like "yeah welcome to camp, wanna build smth w me? come look at these forges over here" and percy and tyson get this reprieve with cabin 9 from all the looks and laughs and jokes and teasing and bullying. like:
:((( beckendorf giving tyson a little give for the quest in som is soooooooo :((((
anyway we also get a few lines here and there from percy mentioning working in the forges after this so i think it's fair to assume that this is the source of at least the percy-beckendorf friendship
also:
beckendorf and percy shared custody over mrs o'leary goes crazy. anyway there's something here about beckendorf sharing percy's refusal to buy into the surface level stereotypes i was talking abt here or idk beckendorf just being a chill dude
anyway anyway something about percy's bond to cabin 9 being born out of being viewed as a cabin of monsters - esp with tantalus's snide remark abt seeing the family resemblance between percy and tyson, equating him with "monsters" that need to be "kenneled" earlier that day when tyson was claimed...
percy says in tlt before he was claimed that he didn't have hephaestus's skill with metalwork but afterword spends time in the forges...just sitting there? maybe...or i like to think beckendorf taught him the skills like anybody else would need to learn rather than the innate knowledge that hephaestus kids are born with. or percy just sits there and looks pretty and chats beckendorf's ear off while admiring his big beautiful sweaty flexing muscles but hey what do i know
i also think percy would prove to be a good asset with his resistance to heat/lava/fire, his ties to the earth as poseidon is the earthshaker as well, and his connection to cyclopes. plue i think it'd be especially interesting after the whole mt st helens thing bc not only did he. yk. blow that shit UP. but he also met hephaestus and did a little side quest for him and i think the kids in cabin 9 would eat up the little details percy could share abt hephaestus and his personal forges. idk i just think it won him a lot of points w cabin nine LMAO
then lowk one of my fav side story with "pj and the bronze dragon" gives sm percy-beckendorf material like this interaction:
god they're literally besties 😭
also,, back up two screenshots "Nobody ever calls Beckendorf by his first name" then percy a few pages later:

SORRYSORRY IM DONE
um yeah percy and cabin nine - but more specifically beckendorf - is so special and dear. i love his friendship with beckendorf and how sweet their bond is. i'm always so distraught regarding the fact that beckendorf died on their mission together and percy had no choice but to leave him behind then carries the guilt of his death for years. nico tells percy that beckendorf didn't blame him but percy still can't accept it and carries that death for years....... i'm sick.
