re your post about percy's eye colour matching the nearest body of water: i love the headcanon and the additions for each demigod sm, so i need to propose that percy canonically describes annabeths eyes taking different shades of grey and blue grey and grey green throughout the series. i need to compile a quote list of his descriptions, but from my recollection, he describes them as sea glass green to stormy grey to almost as dark as the night to sparkling bright grey. we need more annabeth eye colour appreciation on the dash <3

i’ve been trying to word how to describe annabeth/athena kids’ eyes but i can’t bc athena’s domains are so. abstract in a way. like how tf am i meant to convey wisdom into something physical with their eyes. i can see what i mean in my head but i have like no way to convey how to it ties to athena 💔 but yesss her eyes constantly shifting and swirling with different shades of grey. she was actually the one i was thinking of when i first created that post but it was easier to come up with stuff for other characters instead of her LOL

weaving. something about fabric? the grey of her eyes taking on the color of her clothes real faintly,, like it’s just a subtle shift in the hue to match her clothes. i might be thinking of this bc i was just talking to another mutual about the concept of athena as the goddess of weaving being really in tune with the fashion world LMAO

i want to tie it into the sky again because the only way i can describe what i’m seeing in my head in regards to the way her eyes would shift is by comparing it to storm clouds where they’re constantly churning and changing shades from a dark grey almost black before a storm to the bright white of the clouds on a sunny day.

or like an owl’s plume. wait hear me out. hear me tf out. athena kids eyes matching the plume of athene noctuas as in adolescence their feathers are grey and as they get older, they start to gain darker shades of brown until they’re fully grown and their plume is brown with white patterns. athena kids all having grey eyes because they’re so young and most demigod die young (+athena’s kids specifically tending to die on her special quest) so people have kinda forgotten that their eyes are supposed to grow darker as they get older.

btw this IS canon to me now. black!annabeth with bright grey eyes darkening into brown eyes as she grows older, spotted with the occasional grey from her childhood. thank you. i love the idea of her with both startling grey eyes but also pretty dark brown eyes and it’s always agony to settle on one. this way i can have the best of both worlds. i got angry so i edited the official portraits for percy and annabeth to give them darker skin (you know. LIKE THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO HAVE. LIKE HOW THE BOOKS DESCRIBED THEM. i get that percy's descriptions were a bit more vague but he's implied to have a mediterranean complexion in son and in moa annabeth says he's tanner than he was when she last saw him, which makes me think he's never been pale. also if he were white i doubt there would be a national manhunt over a "crime" he didn't commit when there's zero proper evidence pointing to him doing it)

i do not claim these as my art since it was drawn by viria and not me, all i did was darken their skin and edit annabeth's hair a little

i want to apply this to all demigods but i can’t think of how so. just take it with these three. thank you. percy’s eyes being the color of the closest body of water and matching the mood of said water so his eyes are either a gentle green or a raging blue of the sea and you can see waves crashing violently in his eyes. jason’s eyes matching the sky he’s under (sky blue jason and electric blue thalia truther) so on nice days his eyes are a pretty blue and they get darker as the sun goes down and at night his eyes are a deep indigo or violet. it starts storming and his eyes literally cloud over and appear dark grey with flashes of lightning within them. hazel’s eyes alwayssss changing color with every step to match the closest metal to her feet. that’s why her eyes always appear gold because of her sword. but let her control silver and her eyes are. well. silver. she controls a plethora of metal at once and her eyes are ten different colors at once.

apollo kids + jason’s eyes being the shifting colors of the sunrise and sunset as they happen, changing with the sky like their own miniature heavens.

also. jason having stars in his eyes at night too. forgot to add that. if there’s high light pollution, you can barely manage to find a couple stars. if there’s no light pollution, his eyes will literally have the milky way in them to match the sky above him.

demeter kids’ eyes usually being the green of the grass at their feet ringed with the brown of the earth. the green in their gaze constantly shifting subtly like leaves in the wind. as they use their powers over plants like flowers, pinks and yellows will bloom in their eyes within the green. the green in their eyes shifting to yellows, oranges, reds, and browns as the seasons shift to fall to match the trees. their eyes growing yellow and lifeless as the seasons change to winter and settling into an icy white color until spring comes back around and green begins to bloom in their gaze again.

all hunters of artemis having reflective eyes at night. depending on the phase of the moon. if you catch them under a full moon, the reflective light of their eyes is full and bright as well. if you catch them under a new moon, their eyes are completely dark and blending in with the shadows.

hephaestus kids’ eyes having lines of a red hot glow like embers of a fire and that flow like lava constantly.

aphrodite kids’ eyes being an exact replica of their mortal parents’ eyes because those are the eyes aphrodite fell for when she had them. their pupils are shaped like hearts. when they get close to the coast, their eyes will become ringed along the outer edge to match the ocean, similar to percy’s but his matches the water while theirs matches the shore where the water meets the sand and the waves crash to create the sea foam. or in fewer words, their irises being ringed with the sea foam of the nearby coast and constantly shifting a little with the waves so their eyes will grow and shrink faintly as the water crashes and recedes from the shore.

dionysus kids having eyes that have a more physical effect on you as the observer. you look into their eyes and you start to get lightheaded and dizzy. the longer you look, the more drunk you feel.

iris kids have the kaleidoscope eyes. with crazy unnatural colors. neon yellow, lavender, hot pink, etc. they look like a spinning color wheel the more excited or energetic they get.

hecate kids’ eyes pulsing with a glowing green light that occasionally forms little runes for spells like actual magic is swimming in their gaze. their eyes also reflective the stars at night. and having the reflective properties the hunters of artemis have at night.
