Is it your fault, or someone else’s ?
The cup fell off the table, and it's all broken, Lex says " it's not my fault"
How many of you are familiar with this kind of attitude?
We all are familiar with a similar situation, it might be a friend, a sibling, a cousin, a colleague or a classmate.
He never sees himself as faulty. He accuses others, circumstances, etc...
He builds his self-esteem around others people's opinions, judgments, and evaluations.
He is fanatic for compliments "you are cute", "you are a good person", "you are smart"...
When people treat him well, he feels great, competent; But when they don't, he becomes defensive.
It is easier for him to blame others than to recognize it is his own mistake, and take responsibility for it.
I acknowledge that this is hard to accept, especially if we had years of teaching, by our parents, teachers, friends, and society in general that we are the victims of our circumstance, or to other people's behavior. But it is not good for Lex to keep doing this, because:
1) it affects his brain structure;
2) he cannot embrace happiness;
3) people will avoid interacting with him leading him to feel unhappy and unsatisfied with his life;
4) he can't control his life nor make any changes to it.
The lesson is, people don't see themselves as faulty, even if they are. One has to keep this in mind while dealing with his peers.
