Look, don’t try to memorize these equations - even I don’t know them by heart. If you put me in a very stressful situation and said, ‘Name this quadratic surface or the kitten gets it!’ I’d probably go to pieces.

charmingdarkness said: i hope you didn’t go during the actual DAY when it was THIRTY SIX are you INSANE
I went at like, 6 and it was DEFINITELY not over 30 and there was a nice cool breeze to boot. I don't like even existing in hot weather, so you can rest assured I would not attempt to jog in it.

whatcha reading?
I just finished Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
There was a bit where Park is talking about being part Korean, and he says something like "I don't even know what it means to be Korean." And Eleanor's like "I don't know what it means to be Danish and Scottish. Does it matter?" and Park says "I think so because it's the number-one thing that people use to identify me. It's my main thing."
Idk i just identified with a lot of Park's coming to terms with his mixed race identity. And that whole idea of like, cultural heritage and racial identity and idk feeling like there's parts of you you don't know but you should. It just rang really true I think, and it was a really cool take on growing up mixed-race.
Like, I think it was the first book I read with a mixed-race protagonist who doesn't know much about their non-white heritage, like, doesn't know the customs, doesn't know the traditions and the myths and the foods and the music and the culture. And that disconnect of other people identifying you as this thing you know nothing about. And just little details like how much his mum stresses about what to make for his white grandparents for Christmas dinner. It was just really really cool to see that in a book.
