Step into the cool, bright interior of Charnel River Complex and face all its untold horrors in the harsh light of day. Or perhaps you'd prefer to stay until after closing and see how long shadows change the landscape of this ode to the peak of American capitalism.
Either way, the secrets of the Complex are waiting. And watching.
Hello there, very excited about the project! Do you have an estimated date for when writers will know what stories will be in the collection?
Hello! Writers should hear back either tonight (September 16) or tomorrow! We had some amazing submissions so we're super excited too!
Hi there! I was just wondering if this anthology was still happening. I signed up and submitted a story, but everything seems pretty quiet. Did anyone submit? Was there a loss of interest? Just curious. Hope all is well with you! - Dan
Hi there! Thanks for reaching out. The anthology is still happening. We've received submissions and are reviewing them now! Thank you for submitting! We'll be reaching out to everyone shortly with info on next steps!
Calling All Writers: Charnel River Complex Horror Anthology
We are looking for writers to submit original works to a horror anthology series, all taking place at the fictional Charnel River Complex throughout its lifetime.
The modern mall is an epicenter of culture - and horror, both mundane and terrorizing.
Senseless hallways
Faceless mannequins
Lack of daylight
Liminal space
Para permanence
The feeling that you can never leave
We want to explore these aspects and more through works of original fiction in a published collection to be released in Fall 2021.
Story submissions should be between 2k and 10k words. Each writer may submit up to two original pieces. Works must be fully original and not previously published on another platform, either print or digital.
Writers must be 18 years or older at time of submission.
Sign-ups are still open until June 30, 2021. Sign up here!
Submissions open July 5th. Submission Deadline is August 31, 2021.

Hi there! I love this concept!! I'm sure this will be covered in the contracts once authors have been selected, but I was wondering if you have any plans for author compensation for those who are chosen?
Thanks for the question! Correct, this will definitely be covered in author contracts once we get to that point!
Our current plans are to self-publish in digital and print. This typically doesn't come with massive profits unless a publication gets massively popular, but it does give us the most control over the publication process.
That being said, we do have plans to split any profits that the anthology does generate between the authors selected. How often those disbursements will happen (i.e. monthly, quarterly, etc.) and the best way to go about it are something we're still finalizing.
