Pleasantly discovering the prodigious music of the young and incredibly talented violinist Vittala Rangan. Soulful Charukesi!
Riveting Charukeshi by the young violin maestro Ambi Subramaniam
MSS improvises beautifully in Charukesi.
“Ananya ~ A Glimpse“ Wonderful choreography. I’m always amazed at how well some persons, like Leela Samson and Madhavi Mudgal, can choreograph a group dance piece and make it look so clean but also intricate and dynamic. Also, it’s great to see Leela still dancing so energetically on stage.
The profound poetry of Saint Kabir comes to life in a composition of the Gundecha Brothers set in the beautiful raga Charukesi. A signature piece by these maestros.
Such a wonderful rendition in Charukesi by Shweta Jhaveri accompanied by Anindo Chatterjee. Beautiful!
Innum En Manam Ragam: Charukesi Composer: Lalgudi Jayaraman As I decide to dust off this rusty tumblr, right in time for the new season, I couldn't think of anyone else but Mandolin Srinivas to start with. Here he is playing the famous Innum En Manam (varnam) at a book release function. The book is on Lalgudi Jayaraman, who incidentally is the composer of this varnam. And as he starts off nervously addressing the gathering in this clip, I can't stop wondering how humble most geniuses are. We miss you Srinivas!! (Note: The said varnam is the first piece he plays and it goes on till the 11th minute..in case you don't want to play the whole clip..)
