Morning cruise #chasingthepaper #moneymoneymoney (at San Diego, California)
courage.
not to rant about work buttttt....
last week my account supervisor told me they were going to take me from our account (to which I am the top producing agent) and move me to a brand new, highly volatile account that is in shambles. it wouldn't be half bad if the one agent who knows the account wasn't leaving in a week, or if my account wasn't so damn demanding & time consuming. i have been worried since the idea was brought up. staying up going over the idea of being "lead agent" (a B.S. title they give to those of us who act like a manager, & do all of the tasks the manager would be responsible for, but without the management perks).
sometimes you just need to stay up until 3 AM stressing in order to get the courage needed to stand up for yourself. i marched up to my operational manager and point blank asked what the company's intentions were for me. he was shocked, and a bit taken aback. i guess most people don't question what the method to their madness is, they just shut up and do whatever crazy thing they're told to do. we talked a while, & he took me back to my manager, & told her i was done on my account, as i told him i would not go to the new account without proper training and adequate time to smoothly transition into my new responsibilities as a lead.
long story short, i didn't get a raise, or get to stay on the account i know, but i made an impression. i may have even gained some respect for actually speaking up. they discussed far fetched future plans for me, gave me a proper briefing on what was expected, & switched my schedule to train adequately. none of which would have happened had i not grown a set of balls & actually said something.
