How does Dr Jesse Thornheart became an chasiter and how many in total in the history of the forest

Both excellent questions-but also, both too lengthy and spoiler-ridden to answer in full here <XD I'll say what I can though: Chastisers in general undergo 7 years of training-3 for education and 4 for combat and training/missions. Jesse was able to speed it up by a few years by already being a brilliant scholar (med school graduate anyone?) and training harder. As for how many there are in the Forest, you'll just have to wait and see! Not many though... at least, that are still alive.

Ok- here's a question I've had for a good while. (Sorry for all the questions btw)

How does Jesse get contacted for his cases? And going more into this- how do people find Chastisers to reach out to?

That varies a lot from Chastiser to Chastiser! The old fashioned way is to knock at their door or something like ring a bell at their front yard if they have one set up, but people will send letters or phone calls if they don't have a local one. Some travel from place to place seeing if there's anyone in need of help, which used to be popular and inns and such would give them free food and lodging whenever they came by but now not so much. Jesse usually gets phoned in for his cases but with the Forest, he looked into it himself because he wants to get answers (it'll make more sense later with more backstory) and once he reaches out to villages in general, some people like Maigata ask him for help.

That's the gist of it! You'll get to see how Chastisers operate more in depth soon, when characters like his old mentor come into play!
