July 13th some time before the fireworks and after trust falls.
Jonah & Aiyla @jonahxrivas
Aiyla had waded into the ocean up to her calves, standing blissfully under the fading, but warm sunshine while salt water knocked against her one frothy wave after another. She had felt a surge of hopefulness, nevermind Suresh caught none of the faeries, nevermind anything else, she was hopeful for her own life. Perhaps for the first time since her sisters death, Aiyla had something to look forward to that was just for her benefit. Not survival, not the Court or anyone else, but hers. A plan to return to Bordeaux with a friend, maybe it was far off, but it was a plan and the idea alone had renewed a sense of hope in Aiyla. A hope that she could return to where she was born, to find connection in home. She found it comforting that the ocean she stood in now was a part of the same one she splashed in as a child.
Her reverie, no matter how lovely paused when she caught the familar sight of a man she knew from unfortunate circumstances, but like them all he had survived, made something beautiful of his life. Aiyla waved brightly, "Jonah!" She called over the waves, splashing her clothes as she took steps but none ot leave the water, "Come, tell me what sort of fish this is," Aiyla called out to him by pointing into the water where all the marine life swelled to and from one with the ebb and flow of the ocean.
