This week we're reading the second half of Grandson and Grandfather, the last four chapters. That's 5.5.5, "Deposit Your Money in Some Forest Rather than with Some Notary", 5.5.6, "Each in his own Way, the Two Old Men do Everything so that Cosette may be Happy", 5.5.7, "The Effects of Dream Mingled with Happiness", and 5.5.8, "Two Men Impossible to Find".

We've left the Digression, but not the Sewers. This week begins book 3, and we're starting with the first 4 chapters. That is, 5.3.1, "The Cloaca and its Surprises", 5.3.2, "Explanation", 5.3.3, "The Stalker and the Stalked", and 5.3.4, "He Also Bears His Cross".

Starting up again slowly after the break! This week we're reading only the first two chapters, 5.2.1: "The Earth Impoverished by the Sea" and 5.2.2: "The Ancient History of the Sewer".
We hadn’t decided how many chapters to read before the break so I did a quick unofficial poll; yes this is slow but also, Yay this is slow. We’ll either take this book in two parts (2 this week and 4 next week) or three parts (3 weeks of 2 chapters each) depending on how everyone feels about it.
Les Mis Readalong: 5.1: War Between Four Walls (Part 8 of 8)
We’re finishing up the book this week with the last three chapters: (”Step by Step”, “Orestes Fasting and Pylades Drunk”, and “Prisoner”). This is the end of the barricade sequence, and we’ll be taking a break for one week after this discussion.

We're nearing the end of this book, and so the pain has come. Once again we're taking it slow this week with just 5.1.20 "The Dead are Right and the Living are Not Wrong" and 5.1.21 "The Heroes".
So that I don’t forget about it again. I’ll reblog this Later but it’s here for now and will stay.
The next three chapters are all tied together, so that's what we're reading this week, starting with 5.1.15 ("Gavroche Outside"), through 5.1.16 ("How Brother Becomes Father") and ending with 5.1.17 ("Mortuus Pater Filium Moriturum Expectat").
