renauds;
She was searching, but Laila wasn’t sure what it was that she was looking for. The blonde raced through the streets of Ashbourne-- the staff at Delphi’s had proved to be useless and the wolf blew through their doors like a hungry storm, eating up the sidewalk as she tried to find a trace of Pearl. She wasn’t Landon, she couldn’t track very well, but her blue eyes were sharp and as she turned the corner past the Victorian at the edge of the town, her heart sank.
Picking up scents was hard, but there were some that were unmistakeable. From an open window, Laila tasted the copper of blood in the air, fragrant and heavy, freshly spilled. Long legs moved before she could think. She wasn’t known to hesitate, shoving the door open, the wolf just ran.
She ate two steps at a time, barrelling into the first bedroom at the top of the stairs. Her heart sank to her boots and the blonde swallowed a tremble. There was one scent that she had trained herself to remember and it clung to the scene, before she caught the open wound on her baby sister’s throat. Pearl looked smaller, pale and broken. Her red lipstick was nothing more than a dark, garish stain on her face-- in the lighting, she looked like a little girl. Laila worked quickly, sending out a message to Mack.

Her teeth gritted as she reached for Pearl, gingerly touching at her shoulder to see if she could get her to rouse. It was Clary that had done this and it was Clary that would die for it.
