If she was something silvery, a drop from the stars that lingered in darkness— he was something akin to the sun. Not for his radiance, but rather for the fact that he had a heart that seemed to burn: even the cubi had noted it upon their first meeting. Rhys had told her that he had been born in flame and it seemed as though he had swallowed it and it sunk under his skin— beating and smouldering. She had seen him first, as curious and alone as a boy abandoned and had sought him out, curving him under her wing and taking him home. His very first steps on earth were cautious ones, but they would not be as she recalled her own when she had become a succubus. Zehra had taken his hand in her own and showed him the parts of the world, Midgard as he called it, that were new and fascinating, building him up with warmth and pride. She pushed the door open to her home now, shoving it mostly with her hip before twin wet noses pushed at the crack, sniffing and whining for her attention. “Rhys?” Zehra called inside, shushing the dogs and pushing them back indoors, “I brought you something.”
